That's shitty. The place I work at the kitchen gets a percentage of the sales for the night. It comes out pretty decent too, comparable to front of house and delivery tips
i don't think the national chains do this, but i work at a local place and if a delivery customer wants to specify a separate tip for the kitchen we'll do that, so definitely ask.
Former Domino’s delivery driver here. It’s not that big of a deal, they’re gonna be working anyway and since you make your money through tips for delivery, more orders = more money.
Do try to do these things though: Be nice, order early, try to keep your order relatively simple (toppings are fine just no weird special requests) and for the love of god TIP WELL. On a normal day I tell people $3 or 10%, whichever is greater. Because of covid I’d normally bump that up to $4 now, on holidays either $6 or 20%, whichever is more. If it’s raining or snowing, add another dollar.
I'm not entirely sure how tips work at pizza joints, but at other restaurants it is generally better to tip your server with cash even if you pay with a card
Former pizza driver, it’s not that big of a deal but cash is slightly preferable. Have to pay taxes on credit card tips, but at both of the Domino’s I’ve worked at (and I’ve heard it’s the same other places) it’s standard to report cash tips as $0 to avoid taxes.

That's a way bigger inconvenience than delivering a pizza on nye. I work at a pizza place and will be busy as all hell tonight, but that just kinda comes with the day and it's just one night and a lot of the time they have the next day off, I don't this year but it's pretty common to close new years day. You're a drop in a huge bucket, just tip and be friendly to your delivery person

It was actually one of my favorite nights to deliver, I'd occasionally get customers in a party mood who gave $50+ tips. But it wasn't expected or anything, just be normal we don't give a shit.
Former delivery driver here… Something it seemed like a lot of people didn’t realize is that it’s a matter of tips and time. Especially when it’s busy. So, sure, order, but tip as best you can and don’t waste their time.
It was annoying when people did that anyway, I just wanna get my shit done and go home.
I used to love working holidays I made huge amounts of tips. Maybe ita different now but I'd rather be busy making tips than sitting there making minimum wage if that
Just be sure to give them a good tip, preferably via physical cash and not via a digital pay system (I think that gets factored into their wage)
