Like cicadas it is ingrained into their DNA. Every summer they make the arduous journey to the nearest resort then bore their frustrated coworkers with vacation stories they could give a crap about.

it's gotta be a coping mechanism. I watch certain movies, to the point I have entire scenes perfectly memorized, because they make me feel better when things aren't going my way. It has to be the same way.

Yes, for sure. For the small number of Disney Adults I know, it's a coping mechanism. We all have them. For me it's N64 and an obscure trading card game I used to play. The difference is I'm totally aware of this and make sure to go to that well only sparingly, Disney Adults have zero self awareness and get pissy if you dare suggest it's all just cope. And they will literally build their life around Disney.

"I stood in line for 6 hours trying to buy a popcorn bucket at Disneyworld. I would have bought it for 100" is what a fucking Cruelty Squad NPC says.

I'm a giant treat boy and everything but if the queue to buy popcorn was 6 hours I would simply not buy popcorn (even more so if the popcorn was $25)

It is because food design is skilled labor and they are underpaying.

Folks who can do this can walk into a prep chef job in a real restaurant in Orlando and make 20-30% more.

Man it has to be so blissful to be a mindless consumer like this. The only thing I wait in line for is really good Mexican food lol

I've been to Disneyland probably an unreasonable number of times but have rarely paid. If you live in California long enough you find the hookups

Look like you can buy them from scalpers for around $200

If I was fucking stupid as shit and wanted one I'd do that instead lmao

As some have pointed out, this is entirely about the scalpers, but also bc of the collectibility aspect where people have to have the latest treat, whether that be a limited edition popcorn bucket or a bag. So scalpers will also gobble them up, bc I imagine people do pay extra, and then some when its all dried up.

So basically these ppl are all whales or ppl trying to profit off of them.
