Richard Feynman famously wrote "Science is the Belief in the Ignorance of the Experts". He meant, and explained that "science - a.k.a. research - is in the making, belongs to the (unknown, yet to be discovered) future, while expertise is based on the past, with in-built obsolescence".
I feel like that hog definitely means that in some kind of generic antivaxxer way. "Actually I'm something of a scientist myself because I figure Dr. Fauci's a dang lizard who don't know shit. I do my own research on facebook.". The quote itself seems to be the polar opposite of that, only saying a hypothesis or theory is falsifiable but that you can still be an expert in established knowledge that came from the same research process.
"Leftist" is how I self-describe when I'm feeling cowardly. Pretty sure it means almost nothing except "not Republican".
It's hard to make sense in any kind of political dialogue with liberals who think that they're left-wing for voting Biden. There has to be some kind of concession that the squad + Bernie are left-wing just so other people aren't lost in a conversation. They don't have the political literacy to understand anything left like Xi Jinping.
