I just got permanently banned from r/latestageimperialism for calling one of the head mods a :fedposting: lmao.

I've also been banned from r/moretankie196 because of a dumb bit where I pretended to be a conservative and r/shitliberalssay for saying that someone posted something that was obvious satire and calling them dumb. And I got banned from r/latestagecapitalism and r/boringdystopia for saying that Jeremy Corbyn should have done a literal stalinist purge of the Labour party

I'm not sure what would be funnier, for you to actually get banned, or for the mods to just ignore your plea to be banned

or for the mods to just ignore your plea to be banned

There will be no ban hammer. Only an eternity of posting and suffering.

Back when that struggle session was unfolding, I totally missed the background of r/vegancirclejerk being shitty and my first exposure to anything related to it was this post. Lacking context I thought the site had just decided it was time to purge the vegans.

What's funny to me is that specific struggle session got me curious about veganism, as i only really ate the meat that i had killed or fished myself on ancestral lands. Haven't had any meat in a year after a talk with one of my council members about it.

I'm convinced that there's something about moderating a subreddit specifically that will turn even the most mild mannered person into a complete asshole

      • Hog [he/him]
        ·

My theory is that this happens due to self-selection bias: moderating a subreddit basically boils down to doing a bunch of unpaid labour in return for a meagre amount of power over other people, so it generally attracts individuals who are willing to do a bunch of unpaid labor for a scrap of power over others i.e. petty nerds. Of course, none of this applies to our glorious hexbear mods :scared:

That subs moderation is a complete dumpsterfire, I've literally seen people getting banned for the exact opposite sentiment

It's impossible to know what's permitted or not at any given time

Usually get banned for "being a tankie" so I've really only been banned from lib subs. Usually "being a tankie" means pushing back against state department propaganda about AES (most often China, sometimes Cuba) but once it was for telling some fed-ass antiwork mod that western countries doing UBI without building socialism would just mean outsourcing all their socially necessary labor to the global south.

I uh got banned from a twitch csgo streamer cuz his chat was defending some low level pro who got called out/fired for toxicity and racism and I pointed out that they were defending a gamer's right to the n word and next thing I know I'm permabanned. Fuck you, pwnalone.

That's about it as far as bans go, I'm not an envelope pusher

I’m currently in a seven day timeout on ShitLiberalsSay for simply stating that LARPing anarchists shot two teenagers while in the CHOP/CHAZ… in response to a meme about anarchists depicting MLs as bloodthirsty. I guess turnabout is not fair play after all.

Pretty sure I’m the reason they currently have a sticky up about sectarianism. Though it’s odd you never see this kind of response when MLs are the punching bag.

I hope they grow out of it one day.

Surprised to see that. I thought SLS was friendly to MLs.

I think the sectarianism was because of a post where some radlibs smashed a ML bookstand at an anarchist bookfair in la or something, and a bunch of ppl used that as a pretext to do some sectarianism. Was really stupid.

The post waswild, the radlibs had smashed a lenin bust open and used it to collect donations, also put a trans sticker on the bust for some reason.

      came to post this.

Although one time I was autobanned from a leftist subreddit for posting in some chud subreddit, but they reversed it when I was like "hey I support these bans 07 but please consider my request for unbanning, I was only verbally abusing some reactionaries" and they unbanned me.

I operate on the line of thinking that if I've been banned from an online community then it must actually be a liberal community. So if you think about it I've never been banned from a leftist community

I've been banned from a bunch of lib/chud spaces on :reddit-logo:, but as far as leftist online spaces uhhhh zero? Because I'm a super nice person and everybody likes me ig?

Or maybe actually because I'm conflict averse unless with a blatant asshole, but honestly I've even cut way back on that shit lately

The only one I can think of was in a trans anarchist discord where the final straw was someone saying they hope the US military would invade and overthrow the North Korean government.
I went really off on them.

I was semi-forced out as a mod from /r/socialism for being too white and irony poisoned. It was pretty fair at the time, I was being a real shithead (but also way less of a shithead than a bunch of other higher up mods who refused to resign for their own bad behavior). I honestly wasn't being too bad but I kept telling reactionaries I banned to post hog. The me-being-white stuff was basically because I was the only white mod who acknowledged the issue of the top mods all being white and having absolute power over the new POC mods and accepting that it was a good enough reason to step aside.

You got banned for that? Lmao yeah instead of building solidarity and worker power let me shit ony coworker Bob the boomer because he's christian. Also the best way to combat conservative/reactionary inclinations in fellow workers is to organize with them and show solidarity, it really brings peoples armor down and opens up conversations about other leftist ideals outside of unions . Then there's of course the Muslim American community which we won't even go there. If your spending a lot of time attacking Muslims for their faith while living in Amerikkka your a massive disphit and aren't remotely left. There really isn't any point of being on Reddit is there ?lol The popular section is also like Liberal Pravda ha.
