The US Dems are basically the only political party I can think of that absolutely refuses to whip votes in any way. Even UK Labour fucking keeps their members in line.
You'd think there'd be at least some liberals openly advocating for abolishing the constitution considering they'll be branded that way by the right regardless of what they do but they have a pathological belief that the system is good because they're good and the system benefits them and problems can only be caused by bad people corrupting the system from outside. To be fair Illinois isn't entirely controlled by Democrats, outside of (and even parts of) the Chicagoan suburban band are just as chud as anyone from the surrounding states (Iowa, Wisconsin, Indiana, MIssouri, Kentucky) it's just that Chicagoland has such outsized political power comparatively they don't really matter.
