One weird thing that I have noticed is that the Americans are supporting Russia instead of Ukraine, but are nazis themselves. Usually they always slurp up whatever pro-US propaganda manufactured by the CIA Fox or /pol/ tell them, but this time they are cheering on a non-NATO force?

Contrarianism. Some of them have literally no principles or beliefs of their own and exist entirely as mirror images of liberals, reflexively opposing anything they say and do. Because liberals support Ukraine, chuds oppose it (despite the history of American neo-nazis serving as auxiliaries in the Ukrainian civil war). If it were/when it is their team in power tossing billions in weapons into far-right networks in Europe under the pretense that maybe some of it will reach Ukraine, then they'd support it.
Yeah, these are people who took horse dewormer instead of getting vaccinated for COVID because vaccination became a partisan issue. It's not hard to understand why a lot of them would start cheering Russia when all the libs they hate have Ukraine flag emojis in their usernames. I remember an old episode of chapo where Matt said something along the lines of "they want to own the libs, this is a lib-ownership economy" and he was right. For a substantial number of people, politics is literally just making your opponent mad.

A lot of them seem to think that Putin is an anti-woke icon and nato is gay or trans or whatever. I'm sure there are other forces at play, but there's definitely these brainworms too.

The first Western organizations on the ground when the USSR collapsed were not the CIA or MI6, they were American and European Christian Evangelists/NGOs.
There are decades of relationships formed by Western Christian organizations going back and forth with Russia and other former Soviet states. Some American Christians firmly believe - the still mostly atheist - Russian Federation is the greatest Christian country on earth, and can do no wrong.
