Remember at the end of summer 2022 when the liberal-media complex re-convinced itself that the authorities would finally arrest Trump? This was on account of the top-secret documents he took to Mar-a-Lago. I especially recall the "Mueller She Wrote" podcast running a victory lap on Twitter. At home for the holidays, I also caught prime-time MSNBC for the first time in forever. They had moved on to 24/7 coverage of Trump's failure to release his 2015-2020 tax returns. I feel like I need a background in anthropology to fully grasp what's happening with the confidence in Trump's arrest. Something is being activated in the liberal brain that approximates a diehard faith, not unlike a teleological belief in the Rapture. How do MSNBC viewers continue to feel satisfied and confident in Trump's arrest despite an endless deferral of the act? It's like Bart losing his mind at Kamp Krusty when he learns his hero isn't there. Rocking back and forth, he tells himself: "Krusty is coming. Krusty is coming. Krusty is coming." Is this not also making liberals insane?

Your religion comparison is apt, but you're naming the wrong godhead. "Liberal Democracy" is what they might call it, and the religion is far older than just Trump and goes back hundreds of years. The average parishioner is your D-ticket voting, working class proletariat. They're invested in the belief this system will work because they, their parents, and their parents before them were indoctrinated to believe it is the only thing keeping the barbarian hoards of Communist Chinese at bay. (Do not underestimate how effective this indoctrination is; it has been kicking the literal shit out of "leftists" in this country since inception.) The priests - your Mueller She Wrote, Pod Sauve America, etc. are just doing the same thing every fraud does and kicks the can down the road. Biden just got elected. No Christian is asking god for that kind of miracle these days, but his religion is doing fine.

It doesn't matter if Trump gets arrested or not. It doesn't matter if it's clear climate doom is impending. It doesn't matter if a pandemic is ravaging the world. This is literally the only option.

This is how absolute faith works. God is the only salvation. Anyone and anything who challenges that faith is trying to destroy you.

Meanwhile you're stuck here like :jesse-wtf:

It's different in the sense that many of the specific events libs think are happening are in fact happening; they just are missing how few rules actually apply to powerful people. That's a tough pill to swallow when there is zero mainstream media coverage of the idea, and when any coverage by legitimate deep politics analysts looks the same as lizardmen conspiracy crank stuff from 10,000 feet.

QAnon nuts belive stuff like secret assassinations and body double replacements. Libs are considerably more grounded than that.

You say that as if a 'liberal rules based order' isn't as fictional as a body double. One just has the pretentions of political philosophy in it's fiction, the other draws from a Tom Clancy novel, and in many cases the 'deep state' analysis of a Tom Clancy outlook is more correct than the alternative, just with different implications than the QAnon people would imagine.

The only difference in their fantasies are the whipping marks of the academy.

I mean one is "can you clone Hillary Clinton and replace her after a secret execution" and the other is "how does law and accountability really work for the powerful." These aren't the same.

I'm not going to hammer on this point anymore, but you are mistaking a question for an answer. It goes like this.

Q: How does law and accountability really work for the powerful?

A: They are cloned and replaced by the deep state cabal. (QAnon)

A: They are held to account by the meritocracy and rules-based order. (Liberals)

Spent half my lunch break arguing with my boss over whether or not Trump would ever get arrested. I said that if Nixon and Reagan walked, then theres no fucking chance that he ever goes down. Also because a solid 10 million chuds will become terrorists over night if they arrest him, but my boss insists that if Justice has to happen then the FBI must arrest him. Obivously I'm not going to call my boss a moron to his face, but it did feel pretty bad that this is the guy in charge of my immediate future, and he is somehow blind to any material analysis. I did seem to make a small breakthrough with the reference to Iran-Contra, so he wasn't completely propagandized.

"There's no chance a president ever faces any serious consequences" is my go-to for cutting through all this crap. It's right, and they know it. At best, you can get into a conversation about why it's right despite all the rules that say otherwise.

A liberal family member came to me recently and was like "DID YOU SEE THEY RELEASED TRUMP'S TAX RETURNS? ITS HAPPENING!"

Was anything in his tax returns surprising or new? Will anything come of it? Does not matter, WE GOT EM!

Why would they arrest the clone they replaced him with in 2021? Real one has been executed at gitmo. Trust the plan, jack
