Democracy Now interviewed Zenz and called him an independent researcher, they're a (DSA equivalent) source which is in no way interesting. You can dunk on Grayzone w/o handing it to Democracy Now.

It was the lead up to the NATO Libya bombing that truly exposed how Goodman and DemocracyNow! are just State Department parrots when it comes to regime change in the Middle East. DN!'s regular "expert" guest during this crisis was Juan "cruise missile leftist" Cole, who was salivating at the thought of removing Gaddafi, even if it meant NATO dropping bombs on another Middle Eastern country.

DN! did the same thing with Syria and Assad, two guests that I remember they had on were 1)Assads fellow medical student who did a character assassination of Assad and was pleading for a no-fly zone. 2) After Trump dropped bombs on Syria, the next day DN! had on a Syrian-American "Activist" who was outraged at Trump. The guest wasn't outraged that Trump bombed Syria, she was outraged that Trump bombed an empty airfield, she wanted Trump to rain death and destruction on Syria to oust Assad...lol

DN! China coverage is also garbage. When Lu Xiaobo was imprisoned by China, he was given a Nobel prize for being some kind of dissident. DN! was all over this, they even aired a bunch of celebrities that read his writings. Lu Xiabo is a right wing nutter, he fully supported Bush's invasion of Iraq and thinks China should've been colonized by the West for over 100 years to civilize them. During the Hong Kong protests, naturally DN! was on the side of the protestors because of "democracy". DN! guest were some HK liberal politicians and when Goodman asked the liberal politician what he wanted to say to Trump, the lib was pleading for Trump's help.

Can't stomach much of DN! stuff anymore, but I did check out their interview with a Russian leftist, Boris Kagarlitsky. He basically said Russia was losing and Putin was going to be overthrown.

DN! is good for domestic and Latin America stuff, but they are radlibs who with typical radlib state department views on US Imperialist adventures in the Middle East, Russia and China.

Getting flashbacks to my baby leftist days when Democracy Now, Abby Martin, TYT, Jon Stewart, Truthdig, and Counterpunch were my first introductions to leftism. What a sad time that was.

Grayzone and Democracy Now both suck but for entirely different reasons like how anarcho-Bidenists and MAGA communists both suck for different reasons.

As long as Max isn't writing about vaccines the Grayzone is typically still good IMO.

Yeah good journalism is impossible to find anywhere except in alternative media and obviously those sources are going to be problematic most of the time.

I too remember the days I thought Dem now was good but that was about 8 years ago now, they took a sharp turn towards unironically supporting US narratives in the last decade.

I could be wrong but I think this is a sharp contrast to their roots too. Anyway point is its not like this is groundbreaking Grayzone reporting either so they are saying shit socialists have noticed years and years ago.
