For me it's more like the base system is so much more functional than Windows that the few things I have to find a guide for take up much less of my time. I don't have to spend any time disabling telemetry or downloading drivers.
Want to be able to change which one you're using whenever you want? Easy! The desktop is just a program you can download and you can choose which one launches when you sign into your computer.
Or perhaps you'd like to mix and match elements? Many of these were just different plugins for desktop environments, so you can just switch out plugins to your hearts content.
There's a lot of great stuff about Linux, and I could go on about the ease of downloading software or how nice updating is compared to Windows. But this is a great visual example of just how much more control over your computer experience you would have with linux compared to Windows.
1,-Windows is not bakwards compatible. So with a new version your stuf may or may no longer work.
2,-newer windows use insane amount of resorces. Ram cpu etc. For example windows 10 applies the specter patch again (it shoul already be included in your hardware ) and makes it depending on aplication anything from 6 to 15% slower. Thats about the same diference between intel generations.
3,-my software is pirated windows defender deleets my exes automatically. In windows 7 i can tell it to go fuck itself i cant do that on 10. So i cant use 10.
4,- new hardware des not have drivers for old windows versions. So if i were to change my old video card i wold have to change to linux or windows 10.

Huh, what software? I've never had this with anything. I'm mostly just pirating games, but also had one of the last one-time-payment versions of MS Office for a while.
A few years ago i bougth a laptop with windos 8. I began installing acrobat and office it ate my exes. So i went to my main compuetr for another copy. This time i disabled defender. It ate them again. So i formated and installed 7. So it maigth have been that particular acrobat crack. Bu back in the day i have had seven thinking my game cracks are malware that is why i always disable windos defender.
ok nerds, what's the actual advantage of linux over windows. i do not understand big computer words or numbers, what does linux do that windows doesnt
Have you ever used windows and thought "this is too easy. I wish I had to Google how to install photoshop?"
Linux gives you that experience at the small price of making nerds happy.

Yeah, Linux is definitely better for the nerd use-case
Depending on what you want to do, almost everything. Here's my favorite example for a casual user though. Desktop environments!
Want your desktop to look like Windows XP? Here you go
Want it to look like a Mac? Here's a couple
Want a desktop that looks like doom? Not even slightly an issue.
Want to be able to change which one you're using whenever you want? Easy! The desktop is just a program you can download and you can choose which one launches when you sign into your computer.
