Also Korea is an unhappy ally in the war. Lots of interesting stuff in here.

This stuff isn't new, what's new is that The Hill is saying it

Munitions for Soviet-era air defense systems deployed by Ukraine will soon run out, potentially imperiling Kyiv in the war against Russia, documents show.

The S300 missile defense system is expected to run out of munitions by May and the SA-11 Gadfly system at the end of March, a document dated in February says.

Both systems make up about 89 percent of Ukraine’s air defenses and are vital to fending off frequent Russian missile strikes.

Looks like the biggest news to me, if this is accurate. Seems like NATO can't just feed them more compatible munitions (they have to use different charger cables or something, right?), so we'd be talking about transferring all-new air defense stuff now. NATO would have to replace basically all their air defense systems, too.

Some of the leaked documents indicate the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad supported nationwide protests against a proposed judicial reform from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

I'm sure this doesn't happen in my country!

Correct. In your country it's backed by the CIA, not Mossad.

Weird I was told that Russia was the one scraping by with barely functional Soviet tech they were running out of, hhhmmmmmmmm

Isn't the only thing everyone always admitted vis a vis Russia is that they have kick-ass air defense because they figured that would be their main problem?

Back during the Cold War, Russia produced very good air defenses like the Tunguska and the 2K12 Kub. The US basically didn't bother with air defenses because it operated under the assumption that it would always have air superiority. We're seeing how this is coming back to bite them in the ass now that they're in a proxy war with a nation that actually has air power.

Also, Russia have the supply chains to produce more munitions for Russian weapons systems whereas the west is barely able to produce munitions for their own stuff.

This makes sense to my layman mind. Russia still has a lot of old soviet factories and companies operating, Ukraine had some like that jet engine plant China was purchasing from, but a great deal are sold off or closed down. And with the stream of NATO equipment for almost a decade the incentive if probably not as high. Russia can produce Soviet equipment or parts that are compatible with it

Also, Russia can flatten any arms factory in the Ukraine while Ukraine can't touch Russia's military-industrial complex.

My conspiracy brain reads this and wonders why the US government (or whoever) leaked these wanted to draw attention to or set the stage for changes in the US's relationships with South Korea, Egypt, and the UAE.

Is the US attempting to start actions in Egypt?

Or is this fabricated to create tensions between America and some of its allies?

What change could possibly be made in the US' relationship with South Korea? Who would they even turn to?

Apparently this shit was originally leaked inside a Minecraft discord server. Seems like an extremely weird place to leak to. I don't really understand how or why that avenue

Its mostly a kids game and in general Gamers are a niche group that can be easily dismissed by every side of the political spectrum. Even 4ch is more politically relevant than random discord servers.

So my idea is they wanted to brag but also do a high profile leak to the most irrelevant people possible with the requirement it must be online and relatively easy to keep your anonymity.

Egypt has been getting reamed by inflation caused by imf loans already so I don't think this is a new development per se, but probably an ongoing escalation. Most likely Egypt is seeing the writing on the wall after the Saudis flipped and want to get away from the US, but having the Suez canal is obviously a massive liability for US naval power projection so it makes sense they'd be targeted in some form or another.

The leak is a limited hangout. Some of the US knows Ukraine is fucked. General Milley has for months been saying shit out of line with what Biden's team and the media have been pushing. The CIA definitely knows how fucked Ukraine really is and probably have known since the start. Feel like Milley and Burns make up the tiny realist faction of the government, whereas the entire Biden admin are just off the rails incompetent, have more brainworms than brains at this point, or both.

This is the US's exit strategy from the utterly insane propaganda drive they've been on, convincing every American that Ukraine is about to take Moscow or something.

Either the military/CIA leaked this behind the Biden admin's back or the Biden admin ordered them to. I think the former is more likely, but the end result is the same either way. The media will start to shift now so it'll be interesting to see what the ghouls at the NYT, WP, etc say over the next few weeks

Feeling like the “the US military is the silent Caesar governing the american empire” take is correct. If Jan 6th got too wacky would Milley have arrested Trump and stepped in? Same way, the Dem leadership is obviously too senile or too inept to be on anything other than autopilot. Who’s actually governing this global hegemon if the ruling class and their political class lackeys are out to lunch?
