The Sisters, also referred to as the Sisters Olive Trees of Noah, are one of the if not the oldest olive trees in history.

The Sisters are not just one tree. They are composed of a grove of sixteen olive trees, in the Lebanese town of Bcheale also known as (Bchaaleh, Bchealeh, Bechealeh or Bshaaleh). These trees are ancient, but they continue to produce olives.

The local folklore says that these trees are anywhere between 5,000 and 6,000 years old. If proven, this might make The Sisters the oldest non-clonal living trees in the world. However, proving their exact age is more difficult than it seems.

Normally, the age of a tree can be proven with some margin of error thanks to dendrochronology. Dendrochronology inspects the tree rings within a tree’s trunk in order to estimate its’ age. However, as these trees are so old, their inner structures have deteriorated to the point where it’s impossible to accurately tell their age. On the other hand, that alone proves just how old these trees are, and scientists agree that they must be above 5,000 years old.

The Sisters (are attribtued) as the source of the olive branch returned to Noah's Ark at the waning of the Biblical Flood. The trees still produce olives, and a preservation effort was undertaken by the non-profit organization Sisters Olive Oil, which marketed oil from these olives.

Well if you want to do individual trees then the tallest tree in the world and the largest single stemmed tree are also both redwoods

You should read some of the papers on 'moral hazards' that got 'Nobel Prizes', where they basically said, "We can't give people better healthcare because then they will use it even if they don't immediately need it!", but then don't apply that same logic to things like banks and speculative financial markets.

Economics is the upper-class pretending to know how to spend the lower-classes money correctly for them.

Today a toddler bumped into me at the bus stop, I got so mad that I punted the little runt right into the middle of the street where a guy in an F-150 pickup ran right over them and turned them into freshly made Ragu. Then the KAREN who was watching the child accused me of murder and is taking me to court. I think it was my right to protect my personell space. Play stupid games, win stupid prices, kiddo.

The person who's now my "girl"friend as of today came out as non-binary and neurodivergent to me (which I'm guessing they mean as undiagnosed autistic but they could just be an extreme introvert instead). Said they're possibly asexual too but they're not opposed to doing stuff per se eventually and feeling things out what they're comfortable with. I suspected all of this before but I didn't want to or know how to really broach the subject.

They're still cool wanting to be my girlfriend and hanging out and doing stuff. I thought they might not like me as much as I did them but I guess they were just being hesitant and anxious about stuff like this. So I'm super happy, anyway. More or less where I wanna' be with them. They're actually more, like, physically intimate with me than my non-asexual first GF anyway, so that's a plus. We've been getting along really well so far. Talking has been super, super easy between us. Really happy about all this.

People who say "The problem with society is how divided it is" have to be actual labrador retrievers in a trenchcoat or something.

Maybe the things we are divided about are the problem, Sharon, and not the fact that we are divided? :sus-deep:

Maybe when we have dividing opinions on certain issues, the issue at hand are the issues themselves? :sus-lovecraft:

MAYBE THERE ARE PROBLEMS IN SOCIETY THAT NEED ADDRESSING AND HERE YOU ARE THINKING THAT THE ADDRESSING OF PROBLEMS IS THE PROBLEM ITSELF??? :sus-torment:

:joker-troll: save me from this world :joker-troll:

Getting paid to write an article about how roguelikes are a safe space to explore mortality, loss of control, and unknowing.

    that's da dream baby

Roguelikes aren't really a good case for "exploring unknowing" more than normal games, since getting good at them typically centers on memorizing formulas (formal or informal) about level generation, item spawning, and so on.

:mao-wtf: i just had 20 minutes of trying to explain how yiddish is germanic to someone and despite multiple -yiddish word-->"that sounds german" they were still not accepting that jewish people lived & culturally developed in germanic areas. like the nazis have proscribed jews' whole existence in central europe to some people.

:sicko-wistful: fucking depressing cuz that's what the nazis wanted. thinking that jews were never an integral and important part of european culture is exactly their goddamn aim.

even though >50% of nice white people things came from ashkenaz folk. i'd kill myself if bagels didn't exist, fukin hell

Reuters was able to verify that the video was taken at the mall where the shooting took place.

In past shootings, social media sites worked to take down links to such graphic images.

An emailed request for comment to Twitter, which no longer has a communications team, returned an automated reply with a poop emoji.

truly boggles the mind how someone can get nonstop fucked over by corporations day in and day out from the second they open their eyes to the second they go to bed and still somehow feel the need to log onto the internet and go to bat for some company's copyright law or whatever
