Venture Brothers is the superior baszinga mad scientist show because it has humanistic values and invites to to empathize with it's flawed characters rather than demanding you agree with them.

Zoomers who have never heard of Johnny Quest or Hanna Barbera; Do y'all like Venture Brothers?

they still do Hana barbera reruns on saturday mornings, right? :yes-honey-left:

Scooby Doo & its crossovers do a lot of the legwork for setting up Venture Bros, i think. and Scooby Doo is still very popular. idk im kinda a freak & years later am recognizing references Venture Bros did that i missed but it's definitely my favorite animated series

My kid watches a shit ton of Scooby Doo (I think he's maybe not technically a zoomer though, he's not quite elementary school age).

and invites to to empathize with it’s flawed characters

Richard and Mortimer uses that soft invite as a frayed and crumbling mask while constantly resetting Rick Sanchez back to a default state no matter what atrocities he commits, which only adds to his mystique for chuds and assorted hogs.

Dr. Venture does get some lasting consequences and doesn't have nearly as much plot armor or godlike reach and other characters are given relevance and agency (even The Monarch, sometimes! :sicko-wholesome: ).

That, and the fact that Venture Brothers has some bleak and dark themes but they're presented, for lack of a better word for it that I can think of, sympathetically. It's "yeah that sucks, doesn't it? We're fellow travelers in such things that suck, these characters and you in the audience" :meow-hug: compared to R&M's "BECAUSE MULTIVERSE BEING AN ATROCITY COMMITTING ASSHOLE IS FUNNY AND HAS NO LASTING CONSEQUENCES MORTYYYYY BUUUUURP" :hypersus: edgy-for-edginess-sake-and-because-Roiland-gets-off-to-it pop nihilism.
