I just recently got Warhammer Chaosbane which I guess is just a rip off version of Diablo and I loved it despite it being pretty short. So I feel like I'll like diblo but idk if it's worth 70 bucks

No, man, don't buy blizzard games. Stop it. go play literally anything else. Path of Exile is free. there's lots of good arpgs on steam. Stop giving kotick money. It's literally so easy. Better yet read a book.
Alternatives that do not involve shelling out money to a game company whose developers named a hotel room the "Cosby suite" [CW: SA]:

- Grim Dawn
- Titan's Quest
- Torchlight I / II
Add Last Epoch to that list. Unless their devs are also sexual predators, idk.
Download Path of Exile. You'll either hate it and uninstall 10 minutes in when you see what happens when you level up, or you'll lose a few thousand hours you could've spent organizing and reading theory. Win-win.

My once cutting edge computer is now like 6 years old and fairly mediocre, and I just bought a ps5 so I don't really torrent games anymore sadly. I also find trying to play games on a computer I just end up fucking off to dick around on the internet, I need something I can only game on or I get distracted.

Most of the alternatives presented in that other thread are older than your build, I highly recommend checking out Grim Dawn or Path of Exile over Diablo IV.
Actually playing path of exile right now. The level up tree is kinda overwhelming, but it seems pretty cool like an hour in
Don't even watch guides besides maybe one for a simple build that'll get you to end game. Find a skill you like, look up the neat stuff people do with it, and run with it.
Even hearing people talk about all the systems is overwhelming at this point and I have like a thousand hours in from back whenever it came out.
There's also about 5 different end games at this point, so when you get there just do what's fun for you and don't worry you're missing out by not doing one of them.
Yes the passive tree is very overwhelming. To be honest I have been playing off and on for years and I still fuck up builds all the time.
Don't worry about this too much, you can get respec points as currency, and if you stick with the game you'll be making new characters all the time for the new leagues trying out different skill paths and whatnot.
The best way to enjoy Diablo IV:
- Download Diablo 2 + Lord of Destruction.
- Find a keygen/existing keys online for the base game and expansion (literally google “diablo 2 keygen”), or purchase legit keys from Blizzard’s store ($20 in total). Depends if you want to use the official servers or if you want to avoid creating a battle.net account or you just don’t want to line ABK’s pockets.
- Alternatively find a trusted torrent that bundles everything.
- Install, patch to latest version with included official updater.
- Install D2GL.
This gets you a vanilla experience with high resolution and modern video card support.
If you want additional QoL features, consult this list. Either install the ones you want, or install the pack as a whole.
Once you’re bored after 200 hours, install Median XL.

I played the beta and it was fairly underwhelming, the skill trees are pretty simplistic with limited options for creativity and they crammed a bunch of mmo elements in like having to harvest ore and herbs, basically just reskinned Lost Ark for western audiences. I watched a couple reviews and it seems like if you like a shit load of grinding for gear while sifting through mounds of junk then it might be up your alley, but Blizzard's best games are behind them imo. All of the talent that made Diablo 1&2 were pushed out or left years ago, which was why D3 took over a decade to push out in a broken state.
Also they steal employees breast milk and hire union busting firms.
If you want to play a Diablo game I would probably recommend Diablo II: Resurrected which is a remaster of Diablo 2 (which some consider to be the best diablo game)
I'm in it for the nostalgia. D2 was a big formative video game for me and D4 does recapture a lot of that magic. Incidentally, D3 did not. So I'm sort of excited to play a sequel to Diablo that I don't hate.
Still working through the story, so we'll see if its a flop. But I'm happy so far. Idk if I'd throw out $70 for it, yet. If you've never played an isometric hack-and-slash before, there are plenty of other cheaper (arguably better) options. All the SuperGiant Games Bastion/Transistor/Hades are out and proven solid. If I wanted to try the Diablo game without paying through the nose, I'd start there. Then, if you like the style, maybe check out D2. And if you enjoy beating that, D4 should be in the discount bin by then.
Don't give Bobby Kotick any money. It's not worth the guilt and feeling bad playing a game that is monetized to the gills anyway.

Grim Dawn lets your character have two simultaneous classes, creating lots of unique skill synergies to let you make lots of interesting builds. On top of that there's a ton of weapon types, lots of skill mods, constellations for overall buffs, and several more layers of customization besides. The world and story are interesting, the music and mood are great, and you won't be giving money to one of the scummiest video game companies out there.
