if you are not shitposting about this, start with dependency theory. Zack Cope is good, there are a lot of other people as well. Gets you there half the way. Kites Journal is also good, they have an obnoxious writing style, but give them some chance to make their points and dont be put off by them pissing on Leftists and seemingly calling for "Civil war now!!!". Also, dont join any thing that openly runs around calling itself Maoist, at least without looking at it thoroughly. Do your due diligence and look at what they actually do (this goes for any org btw)

Also, "Third-Worldist" is not so beloved as a term, it has been used by revisionists to make silly strawpeople about what is not even anything outrageous, but really just Leninism.

MLMs are not angry MLs, just as MLs are not angry soccdems.

I was kinda shitposting as I strictly call myself a "nonsectarian", but I definitely appreciate the theory recommendations as I want to understand as much of the left as I want. Seeing the rise in fascism does sincerely make we want to learn more about labor aristocracies and stuff like that.

I get you. It's exactly the Labor Aristocracy part why I am so sectarian, lol. Albeit, my hatred goes out more to reddit-logo Social Democrats working in the arms industry or tech (where does the money come from, huh??), or even just a somewhat priviledged job who wear revolutionary costumes only as long as their comfort is not threatened and who defend certain $$treamers as their main political activity.

I don't even think the LA in imperialist countries is irredeemable. Just that spending efforts to convince them to act against immediate material interests is pretty misguided. Broma (Worker Elite) is decent for those guys btw, breaks down the issues I have without the weird diatribes that boil down to "western proletarians are a bunch of wussies". God, I hate "Western Leftist" (person I disagree with) now, everybody uses it. Same as with the Qing guy meme, it got people big scared, lol, now everybody uses it

So "denaziification" allows nazis to be like "sure we believe the white race is superior and the globalist agenda wants to turn europe into a caliphate, but we dont like hitler so we are not nazis actually"?

I thought the German laws stated that liking hitler or holocaust denial is illegal tho?

Then again they arrest and send people to prison for 5 years for beating neo nazis.

From what we’ve seen from the Ukraine war it wouldn’t be too hard to just outright being back the Original Nazism(TM), laws don’t mean jack shit if that’s how the piggies want it

You need to look up Bernd Höckle qoutes if you want to read the nazi slop. No they are actually pretty blatant with hitler love, they just don't do publicly the hitler salute so they don't get arrested.

      Well

Socdems take power, ally with the Green Party and the libertarians/classical liberals (FDP).

A few mild reforms are attempted, but beyond the minimum wage increase and a 49€ monthly public transport ticket for all of Germany (it got negotiated up from 9€), they're mostly torpedoed by the FDP.

The war starts and the Greens and FDP enthusiastically go full Slava Ukraini. The Socdems less so, but don't really object.

Inflation gets bad and poverty increases, and the government is barely any eager to do anything about it, so It remains high to this day.

The fash start rising, and in response the conservatives think up a strategy: declaring the green party as their main enemy and adopt a staunchly right wing positioning.

Thanks to some fuck the poor environmentalism, the CDU/CSU has the excuse to cozy up to the fash and try to take away their voters through culture Wars (such as against the recent Heating Law).

It doesn't work, except to lessen the influence of the remaining Merkelites in the CDU/CSU (thus pushingtthe party to the right) and gain support for the fash, who are outright winning elections in parts of the east.

The CDU/CSU is led by the Reaganite and BlackRock employee Friedrich Merz too, so they are starting to look open to allying with the AfD.

The Socdems are useless, the Greens are staunch left-neoliberals, the FDP are staunch supporters of the class interests of the bourgeoise, the Left party is too busy infighting and is useless anyway and the Unions are backing down from the strike wave of earlier this year for no real reason except reluctance to act.

So SPD and FDP voters are the ones migrating towards the right? I expected the Green vote to collapse way harder. I thought the Greens were leading this coalition?

I guess the Green voter is a true believer, so to speak.

So SPD and FDP voters are the ones migrating towards the right?

Not necessarily. Non-voters also exist, and different people become non-voters at different moments in time. Social-democratic voters who're dissapointed in the SPD might be staying home, while previous non-voters might be showing up for the first time to vote AfD, because they finally see a chance to make that party large/vote against the entire political spectrum/etc.

When Elke Kahr became mayor of Graz, a detailed analysis of voting patterns showed that the KPÖ was able to attract many non-voters from working class and marginalised backgrounds for the first time, while at the same time their succes demotivated FPÖ-voters who stayed home. If you simply looked at the bar-charts, you'd think a big FPÖ to KPÖ swing happened, but that wasn't the case.

It gets brought up EVERY time, as evidence of German foolishness by American nuclear power technoutopians.

Yes, it was a bad decision in terms of what was good for humanity, due to its at least medium term effects, but

What's good for humanity isn't always good for capital. They got closed because

        1. Merkel got spooked by the Green Party's electoral result in 2011 Baden-Württemberg

        2. It was a gift to the mining corporation RWE

Even if power plants where built it would only be like a quarter of total energy use and uranium mining would have to get more carbon intensive with each plant.

It's too late for nuclear anyway. We're facing the hottest temperatures on record this week throughout the world. If we where in control would it really be a good idea to have to keep so many spent fuel casks cool for at minimum ten given the kind of disruptions coming. Not to mention relying on thermal power plants close to the sea and rivers?

There's a theoretical possibility to have gone from nuclear to reneweables. Or just straight up renewables, depending on how far back in time you wanna go.

There just wasn't an actual one and if you weren't aware of that and then go work towards nuclear power plants being shut off because the enviroment where it's pretty fucking obvious they're just gonna fire up coal power plants: congratulations, you are the greens of germany and have achieved nothing

And Chernobyl accelerated the collapse of the Soviet Union. It could have also made it uninhabitable if it wasn't for the scuba guys.

SPD leads the coalition and holds the office of chancelor, mostly because the corporate press managed to scare the shit out of potential "centrist" green voters while the CDU put up a complete bumbling fool of a candidate, so a lot of "moderates" ended up voting SPD out of desperation.

It's a case of the AfD mobilizing a lot of voters that usually don't and the left-of-Mussolini parties having the opposite effect.

European Reddit libs are beyond insufferable "Both sides have gone too far in their respective wings and I don't know who to pick! Why can't these parties be Pro-EU, Anti-Russia, and Pro-Ukraine?" "We have a lot of things to be grateful to the US for but those Eastern Germans were brainwashed to hate them."

I'll be honest. I've met a few people irl that talked politics on Reddit and they were all insufferable nerds that had no filter with this shit.

The funny thing is the age cohorts that would actually have lived in the GDR, I'll put the cut-off at like 10 or so, overwhelmingly vote CDU and SPD. It's everyone who was aroun 10 in the early 90s and later who votes overwhelmingly AfD.

The sad truth is that it kind of feels like it has been in the making for a while. Liberal democracy is failing, and without any strong leftist alternatives, some will embrace fascism with open arms.

Could they have made this chart any more indecipherable? :chandler-bing:

I've stared at this for 3 minutes, pinching and zooming, looking at the key at the bottom that should've been a third row underneath the bars, then squinting at the key in the upper right corner to figure out the difference between the opaque and solid bars, wondering why they weren't switched to represent past polling THEN THE PRESENT jesse-wtf
