Seriously, can someone explain what the deal is with all these different compounds you can buy now? Does anyone even know? The hell's a Delta 8 or a Delta 11? CBDV? What's an HHC? Or THCP? I went to a dispensary and it's like taking a computer science course!

vaping zoomers will never know the massive throat pain pleasure of ripping seedy mids out of someone's dirty old wood pipe like a sesh hobbit stalin-pipe

THCa is just Delta-9 once you add heat. Like, in the most literal sense. It's a legal substance when they sell it to you, it's still a legal substance when you raise the vape to your lips, but it becomes an illegal substance once you push the button to heat it up and inhale. I cannot get over how dumb the whole situation is but now I can buy weed at the store so whatever.

I've tried them all, though. D8 is somewhere between CBD and D9, HHC is somewhere between D8 and D9, HHCp/THCp are stronger versions of their corresponding molecules. THCb and THCv are honestly the only ones that feels significantly different to me. THCb is much more of a body high. THCv feels sort of like caffeinated weed in a bad way.

Yeah, like someone else said, it’s all because of the loopholes in the 2018 Farm Bill. Just order some high THCA “hemp” from WNC or Arete, it’s literally just weed they get to label as hemp and sell in states with no recreational marijuana laws (plus you get it shipped to your door).

Yep! Same as the rest of the loopholes in the Farm Bill, since this is a product with <0.3% by weight of the delta-9 THC, it’s technically hemp (even though heating (wink wink) THCa converts it into delta-9).
I hate to recommend anything from reddit-logo but r/cultofthefranklin has a lot of good posts, reviews, and info about the different vendors. I’ve tried WNC several times and it’s always been good.

Yeah it's very weird. Can't get Delta-9 anywhere, can only get actual herb from dispensaries (or a guy), and can buy Delta-8 from the fucking gas station.

There's also a weird caveat to the weirdness: the ban on hemp-derived delta-9 only takes effect at 0.3% of a product's dry weight. This is a pretty standard concentration for an edible, so lots of places in my non-legal state sell "hemp-derived" D9 edibles

So with THCa is there any differences at all with regular bud? Like it’s literally just a loophole and everything else is the same?

The 2018 Farm Bill in the US enlarged a legal gray area around cannabinoids. Delta-9-THC is the regilar stuff and is specifically banned in the US, as are any products made from "marihuana". But products made from "hemp" are legal unless specifically banned like Delta 9

Delta-8-THC can be synthesized from CBD, and iirc most of the other cannabinoids on the market are also synthesized from the starting point of CBD as well

    That's all i got

I think the only one that you should care about is CBN. It's extremely sedative and has very little traditional high THC effects so it's the best one for sleep

Something to note is that these designer cannabinoids don't inherit the safety profile of cannabis.

e.g. Vaping acetate cannabinoids like THC-o-acetate cause ketene formation: https://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/acs.chemrestox.2c00170

Essentially you form mustard gas-like compounds and then directly inhale them. Not ideal!

The Deltas are like weed lite, they're not so stoney but theyre still kinda wet. HHC is very dry and heady, makes you feel like a dusty library book (in a good way)

personal experience + info i've scraped from reddit, forums

delta 8 - 1/2 the strength of delta-9. produces more of a "body high". the distillate is very harsh to vape. when ingested, it metabolizes exactly the same as delta-9 so it makes good edibles

HHC - about 3/4 the strength of delta-9. heady. less anxiety. surverys show it's generally preferred to delta-9. ingested it metabolizes into a different compound and lasts a long time.

THC-P: found in trace amounts in some cannabis. extremely potent.

CBN: this is what THC breaks down into over time. old weed is mostly CBN. basically the perfect sleep aid.

CBD-V: very new, has some anti-migraine properties. anti-inflamatory like CBD.

CBG: works like CBD but has some stimulant effects.

THC-V: found in some african landrace cannabis. mental stimulant. basically distilled essence of that initial stimulating feeling you get from THC before you get tired.

edit: stock up now because in September all this stuff will likely be banned when the farm bill comes up for review! can't have nice things nosir
