For those of you who don't feel comfortable owning guns, for whatever reasons, there's a couple standard suggestions (please note, these are all in addition to organize, which honestly can be as simple as talking to your neighbors, making sure you've got strong bonds in your immediate vicinity):

    1. buy an upper and lower receiver, and then have a friend hold half of it. That way it's available with some assembly if SHTF.

    2. buy body armor. I just recently bought some, and c/guns has a thread I started on what I'm learning with it. It's cheaper to get than most guns & ammo (although buy American made ceramics! Don't buy Chinese steel plates), and since this is America, you're a lot more likely to know someone with guns to spare to buddy up with if SHTF.

    3. get actively involved in stockpiling goods for you, your neighbors, and your org. Food & clean water will be far more useful than a gun in most situations we're likely to face.

    4. buy and study various prepping books. I like "the encyclopedia of country living", but I (obviously) live in the country. R/preppers has various threads with lots of resources.

I think a climate/prepping community would def be useful here for sure.

I have a limited amount of resources I've collected from r/preppers, but if we get a community we can compile resources into a few torrents and then just seed them constantly.
