        I mean he is most definitely the coolest pope we've had in at least a couple centuries... if somebody is going to be at the head of a major (usually reactionary) religion, mine as well have them be somewhat of a comrade.

    the catholic church has unstintingly supported (and even outright governed) many fascist regimes. It is also the world's largest pedophile ring. Literally burn the vatican to the fucking ground and piss on the ashes

      If you're somewhere with no leftist orgs, having the Church as an institution to do direct action and aid through is a legitimate strategy. My youth group used to visit homeless shelters with supplies for them. It might not be ideal from a political perspective, but you're helping out those who are in most need, so I think it's as good as anything else.

        That's what I'm looking at for developing mutual aid infrastructure in my area these days. Call me whatever you want, but ideological purity is less important to me than making sure everybody is fed and warm through the winter.
