Over/under is actually a type of betting line where a thing that will result in an unknown quantity has a defined point for betting on.

For example, a sports get might have an over/under of 3.5. if you take the over, you're betting that at least four goals are scored. If you take the under, you're betting on three or less. The extra 0.5 is to ensure that the result isn't the same as the over/under.

Next time you correct someone, try to at least be right.

Then what does it mean when someone asks "what's the over/under on [x]"?

"what [amount] would you consider a 50-50 betting line?"

Basically if a buddy asks you, you get to set the line, and your buddy picks whether they want the over or the under. If they pick the over, and the [x] exceeds what you picked, you owe them 5 bucks for instance.

right but this link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Over%E2%80%93under#:~:text=An%20over%E2%80%93under%20or%20over,or%20lower%20than%20that%20number. makes it seem like theres more to it then that. Idk, gives off the same vibes as conservatives talking about how taxes are so complicated no one could understand them. Just feels like an in-group thing
