I/we/us are first person pronouns
You is a second person pronoun
he/she/they/etc. are third person pronouns and are the ones that are gendered so that is why there is a need to specify. Everyone uses the same first and second person pronouns in English. It makes no sense to have flairs for them.
so some people are systems and prefer we/us to I/me. so we don't all use the same first person pronouns. but they still shouldn't be flaired as we really, really don't need to confuse the cis about whether they can ignore people's pronoun tags or not!

Most people with complex dissociative disorders don't use we/us unless in a very safe and understanding environment because of the sheer amount of ignorance and ableist sentiment surrounding our disorder. Even then some people don't like to and most of the time people switch back and forth using "I" for what that one alter/part did and "we" for something many or all did. I do appreciate you trying to be inclusive of people like me though.
And yeah I agree it would cause confusion to add them. Especially because we don't want to equate being trans with having a mental illness.

yeah, I'm familiar, having lived with someone who has DID. I just didn't want this discussion to become "we/us pronouns are invalid", because they're not. they're just first-person.

honestly, after having a number of people bring this comparison up to me - bring it. everyone deserves to have their humanity respected, people with mental illnesses (as constructed as that category is) included. I'm deeply tired of the idea that mental illness is a reason any of us even need to entertain as for why a cis person might justify stripping us of our identities.
to be completely clear, my objection to we/us as flaired pronouns is not that DID is classified as a mental illness - it's that I don't think we should teach cis people that pronoun flairs are okay to ignore because there's a possibility that they might not be intended for use as references.

as in like "we were asking for representation, but we couldn't get it, so we took it upon ourselves to make a topic about it, so that there would be representation for us."
so they may not take it because the pronoun tags are about how you wish to be referred to, not how you refer to yourself. they're adding more general flairs at some point soon to deal with identity markers.

This is exactly like making "I" your third person pronoun, you're just asking people to say things about themselves instead of saying things about you. You can't identify as yourself AND ME.
