I think they were making fun of the specific idea that Obama was a full-on messiah or some shit, but still unironically liked him at the end of the day.
I found it it interesting. That one kid is basically standing his ground, and it's a debate you don't really hear unless you grow up in the south.
I never heard the debate, but because I grew up rural enough it wasn't 'worth' a debate over something that 'normal'.
