Been doing this since the beginning, it's great and makes it work exactly like an actual app. Only small negative is the white startup screen with the hexabear in the background when using dark mode, blinds me at 2 am but otherwise it's perfect and basically an app

All I want now is to be able to swipe left and right between posts

Better than the original Lemmy instance.

Doesn't it just make a shortcut to the url, in whatever browser you made it in? Like having a bookmark on your home screen? I don't understand how it's any different than using the mobile site except easier to get to quickly

I think it runs a new instance of the browser that can have only one tab. At least that how it seems to work on my phone.

The tl;dr is that it is like a bookmark, but it can support some more advanced app-like features (not currently in this Lemmy) and runs in an isolated instance. For example I block cookies on mobile safari but I can stay logged in on the PWA, because of this isolated browser cache.

Also it’s nice to have it not get lost as a browser tab, but in its own dedicated “app” instance

I installed a new browser and set it as the start page, but that works too lol.
