to this day I still don't understand the whole clean-your-room to incel fash pipeline. why does everyone that falls down the peterson rabbit hole end up that way? I know he's like tradcath as fuck but where is the critical point where people see him talk about that stuff and then just completely go off the deep end? he always starts off with the self-help shit

Maybe it's just because I grew up in the Bush era back when New Atheism and when Penn and Teller's Bullshit and South Park were huge and picked up a lifelong distaste for conservative religiosity, but all these kids becoming weird Crusader larpers just doesn't compute at all for me

It was the US military I think. All these Nu-Atheists and shit spent all their time shitting on evangelicals and "radical islamists". Eventually their morality started to just become that of crusade. That radical islam was a threat to our "western" way of life and had to be stopped.

They managed to shoehorn classical Christian conservativism in with atheism. Which is what Nazi's did, but with the occult instead of atheism.

When your brain hasn't fully formed yet you're just looking for answers and when someone shows up who to give you direction who is sympathetic but still marginal enough to be edgy it's a pretty easy sell. Just turns out that Peterson was marginal because, y'know, he's a misogynist homophobe. But since you already trust the guy then you listen to his explanations about what men are supposed to do and what women are supposed to do and clearly he's got it all figured out so there might be some sense to it. That's how radicalization works, right? Someone plants the seed, like Peterson, and over time you find farther and farther right-wing people to walk you down the path until you're full blood and soil.
