This is like when Firefly used the Starship Troopers uniforms because of budget.

I am the very model of a modern space force general
with lots of ribbons buttons flaps and finials

This is the dumbest shit ever. Why is the US militarizing space? Who are they fighting in space? What is there to "protect" in space? Why is this even a thing? This is some "gold plated bathhouse" decadent late-era Roman bullshit.

Because the USSR isn't around anymore to put a check on their imperialism. Without a check imperialism must spread to every conceivable frontier of capitalist civilization.

The space force exists so some lanyards can put "did x to help establish Space Force" on their resumes and some space command guys can say they work for a new branch instead of for the air force. The imperial bureaucracy is just a bunch of people with degrees giving each other jobs. The space people wanted to feel more important and saw Trump as an opportunity. Creating the space force let both Trump and the space people feel good about themselves, and the people in the military who might have opposed it were ignored by Trump because Trump thought the space force was cool.

Nah, pretty sure in a couple of years Kurtzman will find a way to either retcon the Federation as starting from the US Space Force or just casually name drop it like he did with M*sk.

"This post-scarcity socialist society? Yep, just naturally developed from a horrifying fascist empire." Just incoherent enough for liberals to roll with it, definitely will happen

isn't this how most service dress uniforms look? military tunic + peaked cap is pretty common everywhere I think, so it's hard to not look like the SS. Here's some French officers from the 1920s, and here's a really slick Irish uniform in the modern day
