They are as politically salient as they are diverse and inclusive—beautiful, wonderfully written works.

I kind of like Harry Potter.

I know they're reactionary trash, and jk is a terf, but like, Woody Allen's Sleeper was pretty funny and the marvel movies are fun to watch. Harvey weinstein produced the lotr movies. Bad people can make things that are entertaining, I guess.

    Whats my point again?

They're grand kids books for sure, but it's a bit sad and very obnoxious when people remain obsessed with it into adulthood. You can def look back on the books you enjoyed as a child for the nostalgia, but fucking challenge yourself a bit, don't just remain in a bubble you created when you were 8 years old.

I was at this stage of the argument a few weeks ago, and then I went back to look at some other books I loved as a kid, and guess what:

      • There's no transphobia in Darren Shan
      • There's no awful Jewish stereotypes in Series of Unfortunate Events
      • The Noughts and Crosses series is a little heavy handed but still slaps

Harry Potter is just bad literature. Even taken outside the views of the author it's a poor story with enormous narrative inconsistencies, and the existence of everything else I've just mentioned is proof enough of it being A Fuck.

If I ever have kids they won't be reading it. They will ABSOLUTELY be reading Unfortunate Events though, that thing slaps.
