God damn, just go on a ban spree.

Just purge every single one of the people posting about it. The consequences are GOOD for the subreddit. The most likely outcome of doing so is that the reactionaries create their own subreddit specifically dedicated to their desire to say slurs. Do you know what kind of hellhole a place founded on that principle will be? Terrible. It will be so bad reddit will be forced to act on it, it will be quarantined and ultimately removed. They will not make a space under these circumstances filled with hate, vitriol and the worst people of that community that does not get removed by reddit admins.

The end result is that you've fixed the problem in the community, binned off the reactionaries, and made a strong step forwards. And the reactionaries? Left homeless for their posting.

The outcomes are GOOD. They should be encouraging a split in the community. Make them leave. Stop trying to be pleasant and accomodate them -- just bin them off. I do not understand why these mods are so hesitant about using the powers available to them. Live in the drama, it's good, this should be what you want. Encourage their split by feeding their reaction. And enjoy it while you do it.

EDIT: If any animemes mods want a body that will sit in /new/ and absolutely relish the backlash from clicking ban on every single poster for several hours to cause an even bigger shitstorm I'm available.

You mean the same reddit that purged and reopened KiA under full reactionary leadership when its head mod tried to clean it up and get rid of the reactionaries? I wouldn't be surprised if the admins seized animemes and installed whatever users screamed the most slurs as the new mods, just like they did for KiA. Always remember that the reddit admins are vile reactionaries who'll never do anything to meaningfully disrupt reddit's place as a white supremacist website for distributing astroturfed far-right propaganda.

One mod can't purge a subreddit, reddit takes action against topmods that purge existing teams because in the grand scheme of reddit most top mods do almost nothing anymore, they're people that started a place and then abandoned it leaving the place to whoever the latest person with motivation near the bottom of the hierarchy is.

A top mod can't just come out of inactivity and purge a team that created an existing community. Understanding admin logic is important here in this scenario, they wouldn't be doing that to animemes because the team is actually all behind this decision.

As for their splinter subreddit -- Yeah it'll definitely be quarantined. These people are obsessed with enjoying the worst elements of anime. It'll be filled with racism, bigotry and underage sketchy loli content in no time at all. When admins come in to try and tell them to clean up their act their reaction will be EXACTLY the same as their reaction to the animemes mod team trying to clean up their act, except that kind of combativeness with the admins is a fast-track to ban town for these communities.
