so do national networks not show the weather? only local/state ones? no like, big picture weather forecast where there is one/two symbols per state?
They show a very generic map, cover some highlights and then they usually cut over to the local affiliate station with your local weather. That's your NBC, ABC, CBS. CNN and Fox don't do much weather.
Your local Fox station does but that's still a different organization from Fox News
True, I should have clarified that. Fox local affiliates don't really have a "national" news program like the CBS morning/night shows though
im from italy. the country is small enough to show all the country at once. they show all the places, and then scroll top to bottom saying stuff like "the heat wave is advancing, storms this weekend, the sea is rough, we can expect sunny days". there is also regional networks, which can show a single region's weather.
American population centers are spread pretty far apart compared to Italy. Think of it like if each regione had a local news channel that produces their own content (news, weather, sports) and also airs nightly and morning news programs produced by Rai for the whole country. Remember also that Italy is smaller than California, which doesn't really even do statewide weather on TV iirc, so a really solid national report would be impractical.

we litterally do tho
They will do the same on a local station which covers a similar amount of territory. Like others said, a national weather report is pretty brief (like 1 minute)
Because it's just the sort of question I would think up myself, and now I need to find out the answer.
this is how national news deals with the weather in Brazil. just scroll down a bit until you see the video player.
