Here is the FAQ The Factions are gonna be Kislev, Cathay and Daemons of Chaos, and there are gonna be 9 legendary lords, i hope one of those is the Monkey king :le-monke:
Million dollar cathayyyy
But fr I've never played any of these what's it like
Total War games? They are pretty fun you get to throw your stack of dudes into another stack of dudes and the Warhammer series might just be the best because rather than throw roman dudes against carthage dudes you get to throw dinos and lizard dudes against zombie pirate dudes and giant hermit crabs at each other. Every faction is very different not just how they look but also how they play on the strategic map and on the battlefield.
tactical armchair general shit with units on the ground that move and fight in real time
Imagine you had a camera over a battle like Tours, with Umayyad infantry charging a line of French Crossbows and knights coming in from the side to collapse the big blob of troops. Imagine bodies flying around as horses collide into the troops.
Now imagine all of that with bird cavalry, magic fireballs dropping from the sky, and giant monsters stomping around.
Kislev with bear cavalry? :inshallah:
Holy crap, all four gods as separate races (tzeentch gang rise up) and Cathay just coming completely out of left field and beautiful bear bois, fuck yeah :hexbear-shining: :hexbear-shining: :hexbear-shining:
I'm not even mad that I'll have to wait even longer for my beautiful big-hatted short bois, hats so big they needed extra programming time
Is it confirmed different factions for the four gods or is it just going to be "Daemons of Chaos" with like four different legendary lords?
its one faction (daemons of chaos) with 4 subfactions (khorne, Tzeentch , Nurgle , Slaanesh) and it propably has like 5 of the 9 legendary lords
Man they got a whole lot of these games to make before they catch up with 40k
I refuse to buy this until the add Ogre Kingdoms, give me my hungry lads
I dunno what warhammer is and i'm too afraid to ask; but it looks sweet.
Warhammer Fantasy Battle was a tabletop war game created in the 80s. It has a fantasy theme, but its real appeal is in how well it manages to mix seriousness and silliness. Like, there can be flying dinosaur people fighting rat men with magic gatling guns, as well as Holy Roman Empire guys with rocket launchers and tanks, and Arthurian knights, each one of them having their own culture, history, and motivations, and it works as a world. Its lore is developed into the point that it would appeal to the kind of person, upon being asked what they think of medieval history, would ask "which century"?
Dammit. I want the faction that's just Sengoku-era Japan. They even have the game for it and just need to import the Shogun II assets/map.
If Creative Assembly can be counted on to do one thing, it is make every bit of DLC it can.
My guess for when Nippon will be released is Q1 2022
Can't wait to read theory between 1 hour long turn times when playing on the combined map of all 3 games
they've legit done a lot to speed up the turn cycle, i play the "mortal empires" campaign and it's alot faster than the old world campaign from the first game
40k would probably need a new engine and some revamp to how the game works. Makes sense they would tackle more traditional medieval fantasy first.
will this game be like the tabletop? i want to like warhammer so bad but I don't have a trillion dollars
that looks sick ive been looking for a new strategy game I'll have to check it out
I recomend to buy the 2° game with the prophet and the warlock dlc
Or only buy the base game and pirate all the DLC.
They way it is set up where owning the WH1 and all its DLC gives you more stuff in WH2 is neat if you were a fan back then and just bought it over time but the ~250 dollar price for the whole game now is a bit insane.
Still, that's about the cheapest you can buy into a tabletop army for the whole game. I'll end up probably pirating the whole thing and buying the game and any DLC i like if i like it
Word of warning for pirating the whole game: the most recent cracked version is from a while ago and also from a seriously bugged game version where the game just stops working after a randomly after about 60ish turns.
If you don't mind buying the base game it is possible to unlock all the DLC. This also lets you get regular updates and use mods.
Yeah if you can then pirate the dlc.. I've been buying them as they drop since the base game, it's another 20 dollar every few months, it adds up.. if i had to buy it all one time it starts to become stupid expensive
dope i will. ive painted tons of figures but ive only played a handful of times, and the only video games ive played were Vermintide and the MMO, both of which were shit. this looks fun though
It's pretty much what the tabletop game wishes it was, minus the painting
And yeah it's expensive with all the DLC (unless yarrr) but it's still probably cheaper than buying like five miniatures from Games Workshop
There's also the Closer To Tabletop / Boyz Will Be Boyz mod whic uses an Excel spreadsheet to literally port tabletop unit stats over; supposedly it actually works well, and fixes the vanilla issue of lower-tier units being useless in the lategame.
im a big believer in try before you buy, i assume ill have to buy some of it if i want to play online
if you own the first game you unlock the mortal empires campaign that combines the 1° and 2° game maps, but you should buy that during the summer sale
mortal empire is the shit.. a little sad you have to buy 1 and 2, especially as they just slap a number on it and call it a new game (it's legit just the same game) unlike their historic titles where they made new engines and shit.. but i guess it's cool that you don't have to buy the first game to try it out or play multiplayer
In what sense? In the sense that you build an army, fight a different army, and each army has its own strategy and meta? Kind of. In the sense that you're playing a rule-heavy, turn-based tabletop full of dice and stuff? Not much.
well yeah thats basically what im looking for since warhammer is supposed to be a war game. most warhammer games are like bad RPGS and stuff
