I know everyone scoffs when people throw around the phrase 'left unity', but it's something that I actually believe in and I hate to see things break down between honest-to-god leftists. That being said, there are some opinions I've seen tossed around here that I can't fucking stand. I'm really not trying to start a struggle session here, but this is just something I need to get off my chest. If you eat a pickle after 12pm, but it's the first thing you've eaten that day, it still counts as a "breakfast pickle". A lot of people work night shifts or just wake up later, it's absurd to have such rigid standards for what constitutes a breakfast pickle or not. These pickle purity tests are alienating people who just want to have a breakfast pickle at 12:30 or 1:00pm without being scolded for being "bad leftists".

I'm not trying to go overboard here; I understand that eating a pickle at 4pm, even if it's your first meal of the day, is still an "afternoon pickle". I just don't think it's fair to limit breakfast pickle hours to before 11:59 am.

I will also concede that if you have a cup of coffee or tea, and then eat a pickle later, it doesn't qualify as a breakfast pickle. You had coffee for breakfast, then you ate a pickle; that's not the same as eating a breakfast pickle with your coffee obviously. But if you have your first cup of coffee and a pickle at 1:30 in the afternoon, I think it is completely reasonable to consider that a breakfast pickle.

Anyways, if the mods want to ban me or whatever, fine. I've said my piece.

THANK YOU! God this whole argument is ridiculous to me. Break down the word for fuck's sake, "break, fast". You're going to tell me that if I go on an all night bender and can't sleep because I took a hit of acid at 1:00 am, then I meet some friends for eggs benedict in the morning, they're having breakfast but I'm not? I didn't eat the whole night on account of the acid, this is my first of three meals that day... It's breakfast.

I’ve also found that the early Romans had the best traditional breakfast: bread, cheese, olives, nuts, cold meat, and wine.
