the postmodern parent: I love your grandmother very much, and it would mean a lot to me if you spend time with her, as it would make her happy. :yes-honey-left:

the end result is the same. but under the authoritarian, you do it like it's your job. under the postmodernist, you feel guilty because you dont enjoy it.

my thoughts: The American republic is a stage for elected officials to perform. if the parties were to elect their candidates internally, the masses wouldn't be so confused. instead we're made to feel guilty for not being able to do anything.
