There's NAFTA, but then there's gangland cartel shit. Borders the US, but is culturally and linguistically more in line with southern neighbors.

      North Korea ∈ Global South

      South Korea ∈ Global North

      Ironic.

That's a map of the Global North/South divide. The word Western isn't used.

Also, "western culture" is some fake white supremacist bullshit.

Anyway, Mexico is subordinated in the global capitalist system, its resources are looted by MNCs, it's definitely Global South

There are a couple of maps and meanings. It really differs by context and time period, too. Lastly, even if we speak about countries often, there are not seldom differences and heterogeneitys within countries.

I’ve heard the terms core, semi-periphery, and periphery used. US is a core country, Mexico is a semi-periphery country due to the fact that they’ve definitely more developed than a lot of other countries, and Guatemala would be a periphery country.

NAFTA only allows goods and capital to flow, not people. Maybe it's an advantage to have connections between richer and poorer countries like that.
