Most Texans are fucking hostages to the insane gerrymandered antidemocratic oligarchy that runs that state. Nothing but sympathy for the working class in pain and suffering because of it

Texas will someday go from 51/49 to 49/51 and it will suddenly become the libs' favorite state.

And then when they do nothing and lose the next election they'll start sneering at all the poor people being poisoned by the refineries they live next to.

Flint, Michigan - we hear you. You are in a state that voted for Trump in 2016, so you obviously didn't want the federal government fixing your water. And then you had a bunch of crazy right wingers attempt to capture your governor? Tsk tsk why should we help people who don't want it?

Why do liberals keep showing their ass this way.

“REPUBLICANS ONLY WIN ELECTIONS BECAUSE OF VOTER SUPPRESSION AND GERRYMANDERING”

“Lol look there’s a massive crisis in a red state costing people’s lives because of Republican government, DIE BITCHES!!”

This is a great example of how they care more about aesthetic than solutions.

It's literally in their best interest to vaccinate as many of these people as possible to slow/stop transmission but they just want to punish them for their shitty government.

This is a piss poor way to treat the small number of people who are as far to the left as he is. We will lose with this approach.

Again, we're going to lose if we exile people who've done lots of good things over small-fry shitty takes like this. Do you want to win, or do you want to cancel people on Twitter?

I'm just some asshole. Me saying "michael moore sucks" does immeasurably less harm to the left than michael moore telling millions of his fans that it would be funny if they died. Why aren't you asking the actually influential people to stop damaging the left?

Why aren’t you asking the actually influential people to stop damaging the left?

                You mean like this:

Michael Moore has plenty of good takes, but this is a fucking awful one.

He's wrong on this, but you have a bad approach, too.

Michael Moore is a rich lib shitheel who sometimes has good takes. I don't owe him respect any more than I do Jimmy Dore, nor does the left as a whole.

The point is that an approach of dismissing someone who's more right than most over one shitty take is a fast track to getting nothing done.

Everyone has a shit take now and then, and everyone indulges in sloppy rhetoric like "fuck this whole country" on occasion.

Similarly, comments like Moore's may not be intended 100% literally. And just as we're not laughing at that, someone wandering in here probably wouldn't laugh at "Death to America."

All of this is why -- although "Texas shouldn't get vaccines" is a bad look -- we shouldn't be writing off otherwise decent people over it. There's enough leftist infighting over important stuff.

Why are we punishing mostly good people for a few shitheads psychopathic tendencies? This is disgusting, I remember back in 2008 when the financial crisis hit my lower middle class family very hard and we couldn’t afford to get our heat turned back on in a very cold winter full of ice. As a 17 year old I was so cold and miserable even at home and embarrassed by my families poverty. When you’re a child, you don’t deserve this. This is gross thinking

Honestly I think it's kind of fucked up to even be asking about "good" or "bad" people when it comes to stuff like this. Nobody deserves to suffer, period. At times there are situations where the interests of some are in contradiction with those of broader society, and then it may be necessary to act against them, but this isn't good or noble. If we had a better option we should always take it.

Logically this completely falls apart but the steryotype of texas yokel is too strong for most people to see beyond it

100% correct. He basically edges. He's good at pointing out problems - kinda the proto-Jimmy Dore. But ok, we all know there's a problem so now what?

And this is where "progressive leaders" always fail. The best they'll cough up is, the rich might need to be reigned in. At some point, you're going to need to talk about what the other world is going to look like. The promiseland. And what we have to do to get there. Reigning in the rich is like an obese person drinking a diet Coke after ingesting a whole cake. Until we start talking real world solutions, you're basically just profiting off of misery.

I mean, don't get me wrong. MM is a stepping stone. Especially for older former libs like me. But it's been 30 years of movies and zero solutions. When push comes to shove, he's vote blue no matter who. He's a lib who knows his grifting swim lane.
