the way that question is phrased sounds like US had a chance. They're unwilling to socialise healthcare. If they don't do that they're gonna get gargantuan deaths.

UK by far fucked it up harder based on their circumstances beforehand.

Does socialized healthcare matter if you aren't willing to take lockdown measures though? I may have missed something but in the US it doesn't seem like people were talking much about the costs of a covid stay.

It seems moreso that both the US and UK are neoliberal hell holes that do not know how to take the common good into account, and therefore killed off a significant poor and old population.

Don’t forget that for a while the Tories were deliberately trying to go for herd immunity. I’m also somewhat suspicious that they pushed the NHS to breaking point for ideological reasons, in order to make a stronger case for privatisation once Covid is “over”.

The US allowed 500.000 of it's own people (and counting) to die at the hands of the government and few, if any, raised their finger. I consider the US a lost cause, I'm sorry, but the people have been dominated and utterly defeated. This is just one example of a long list of "oopsies" the State did and nobody reacted in a proper way. I'm sorry.

i gotta have faith in the masses.

the feudal peasants of france & russia knew who was responsible and took action. we're not so different. we get an inch of power and we will use it. no apologies for the terror.

There's a lot of fucking pressure we have to push back against. The empire still has a lot of momentum, but that momentum is dying and soon we'll have our moment.

          WE WILL :inshallah-script:

the empire is great but the people greater still

we will be rats, our enemies will eat black bile and perish. the righteous and meek shall inherit the earth

don't forget that only corporations and a select few count as people, and no big corporations were killed and very few ghouls died so that's a win for the bourgeoise

The thing I will never get out of my head is how brazenly obvious they have told us "don't believe your lying eyes" when it comes to china's response and how they've basically done everything they can to shift the blame to them.

Man...it's almost like a massive top down all out assault on the virus with a real prolonged lockdown actually fucking worked.

Oh no. China bad. Hive mind can't tolerate then doing anything Right. It's all propoganda!!!!

Remember back when it first started and they were peddling the obviously false "Dont wear masks they dont work! But also doctors need them. No contradiction though, they don't work!" then turned around like "haha whoops did we really say that?"

Same thing happening with the vaccines where all these news stories came out about Russia and China's being rushed and DANGEROUS meanwhile they've worked just fine and it's actually the European AstraZeneca vaccine that's had to be pulled out. So tired of the blob.

Every step of the way it's killed me recognizing how fucked the covid response has been. I finally got the vaccine and signing up for one felt like trying to get concert tickets ya know? Just sitting on the website hitting f5 until I got an open time. Didn't help that I went to the shittiest, most run down walgreens to get it. It's all fucked

I remember having a mental freakout right at first on someone I knew for going out to eat or something, and the thing I said to drive it home was "this is gonna kill a million people in this country!", and we'll probably only end up at like 800, 900k tops when all accounting is done so we're actually doing great imo

I remember getting rolled eyes from family for saying at least half a million will die in USA. And then half a million died, and it barely made any news cause the media's vaccine hype was underway by then.
