Since the DE expansion is being released today, I was thinking of picking it back up again.
What are some fun things to combine?
I was thinking of having a super drugged out disco-commie cop with the more physical traits higher.
I was also thinking of also doing the reverse and having him sober up and be a moralist (is being a moralist fun/funny or just boring?) with apocalyptical visions.
yeah this is one of the few things I always tell new players NOT do. 1 Physique just legit isn't fun for a first playthrough unless you somehow get extremely off on save scumming and being super frustrated. Not even convinced it's fun on a second or third playthrough tbh
Oh god, after reading some info on the new stuff I'm very hyped. Like:
Four mutually exclusive political vision quests, one keyed to each of the game's four major ideological alignments. Some introduce you to new characters, some come with new items, others permanently change your UI or some other piece of the world
Also 150000+ words of new text/dialogs ! and new locations !
no one has answered my most pressing question.
is being a moralist funny or just boring.I suspect that's because no-one here has tried, since playing a centrist doesn't sound very fun. Maybe they went wild with it, I have no idea.
There are some really funny lines if you convince the egghead guy in the tent to become a moralist/centrist. You don't need to commit to a full centrist playthrough to do this though IIRC. "Wooo moderationnnnn" type yells.
4/4/2/2, favored skill Conceptualization.
Beeline to Art Cop for the XP and Bow Collector for the Shivers
Does favored skill change anything besides what gets the highest stat?
Not as far as I know. They may have changed it in the update, but it still gives you + to the skill and + cap for the stat the skill is in.
A run using mostly Inland Empire, Shivers and Encyclopaedia is fantastic but don’t do it as your first run, there’s a lot of stuff there that’s fascinating but won’t make sense first time round.
I did that on my first run bc I just thought those appealed to me, I’m actually eager to play the dc to see what all foreshadowing and stuff I missed the first time round
Honestly, I tried two runs with different builds but never got very far, but both times I had Inland Empire because it seemed like an important/major skill.
Inland Empire is great but it makes the game a lot more weird and “meta”.
If it doesn’t click for you then I’d say try stuff like logic and empathy.
Or just do all the drugs and max out electrochemistry :cat-vibing:
Me going into my third playthrough: "i will not be communist. i will not be communist. i will not be communist. i will not be communist. "
me actually going through my third playthrough, "we must build communism comrades!"
How do i not die of a heart attack trying to punch Cuno, or sitting in a chair with the Union Boss?
You need a lot more morale, so either put points into the skill that increases it or have the medicine that replenishes it
I keep giving this game a chance and it keeps killing me. It’s only frustrating because i dont know what I’m supposed to be doing.
You can take your meds or drugs when you're dying, and then you survive.
Cant afford the game, but id try to play as a cop that sleeps in the gutter.
Given the devs' politics and the existing success of the game I suspect they wouldn't have an issue with you pirating it if you actually can't afford it.
I haven't torrented since tpb and a few other places got raided years ago. I have no idea where to start.
I've just sent you a PM with both a link to a well-seeded torrent and instructions on how to download it with a free software torrent client.
A valid approach

You can sleep in a dumpster if you make some wild decisions but it does mean a game over lol. There's an achievement for it.
Just bought the game, I've heard so much about it and I'm excited to jump in. Anything I should know before I start playing?
You need to click on the healing item on your HUD above your portrait if you are about to die. Took me way too many times to figure that out, and I don’t recall the game ever spelling it out to you.
I did the same for my first playthrough! I missed so many things LOL
I have been waiting forever to play this, I love crpgs and the creators quoted marx in a friggin video game acceptance speech. I was lucky enough to snag a PS5 a few weeks back so I've still got some waiting to do but I'm definitely going to pick it up along with demon's souls
I've seen alot of people say it's better to be really good in a few things then mediocre in all of them, but at the same time thoughts and clothing help boost stuff.
I'd say start over. There's going to be new content, and it wouldn't be bad to refresh your memory. But if you don't know if you're into the game enough, you could probably just keep going.
So what's a good character build for someone new to the game and CRPGs in general, and isn't interested in doing anything too fancy in-game?
