Nothing happened in tianenmen square in 1984.

The protests were 5 years later in 1989 lmao so you really can say “nothing happened in tianenmen square then” in this case

  • I don’t really mess with drugs, though I don’t care if other people do as long as they aren’t smoking obnoxiously near me or letting it affect their life and mine. I just know I have an addictive type personality so I don’t drink, smoke or do any of that stuff. I drink enough soda (3 times a week usually) and spend enough time on my phone or computer to want to introduce that kind of thing in my life. Even though weed isn’t really addictive it’s more of a personality thing than a medical thing, I think.

  • On severe problem I see is that this argues at one point that overall price DECREASES across the board with subsequent wage decreases are actually a good thing. This is just absolutely wrong. First, the amount of labour performed in america has only increased while wages stagnated. That has been the root of many problems. So what this assumes is that capitalists are going to take the hits first while the workers reap the benefits of recieving lower wages as the value of products also goes down. This obviously just isn't the case, and I shouldn't have to explain why, but i'll briefly summarize by saying that the rate of inflation won't slow down nearly fast enough, so capitalists are gonna end up laying off workers and reducing wages faster than the price of the product falls in order to keep profit margins high. It isn't rocket science to say across-the-board pay decreases is a bad thing.

Yeah, I agree. There is a context to herge’s racism against Japan and he did some positive portrayals of indigenous Americans. But the Congo is straight up racist. And a lesser known one is the virulent antisemitism in a few panels of the one comic whose name I forget, the shooting star I think, with the mushroom on the cover. Herge wrote it while Germany was occupying Belgium so he just wrote it to be antisemitic and portray the Americans as evil, which, the latter is alright but for the wrong reasons.
