Last Jedi wasn’t a great movie by any metric but it was far more hated than it should have been. The rise of sky walker was a fucking garbage pile of a movie yet audiences liked it? Wtf

That's what fucks me up. That these fanbases can mobilize to harass women and people of color so much that they go on review sites. And then the filmmakers listen.
So in this instance, instead of having an episode 9 that works with the (admittedly bad) setup from the last movie, they make episode 8.5 that actively undoes the cool story elements in 8. That they catered to the racists makes it even worse.

They spent half the movie undoing things set up in episode 8. Integers are for closers.
I think Last jedi wasn't a good star wars movie, as it felt tonally out of place from the other movies. However, it was working with what was put forward in the force awakens., and is a competent movie. Rise of Skywalker was just absolute trash on every level except visual affects.
For me it was that both films were dumb as shit, but at least there was some good lightsaber shit in TROS. The only part of TLJ I remember at all is when the ship explodes in half.
