Then what happened, you ask. I'm sure it was democracy, freedom and a rules-based international order.

"You fucking idiot! The American-backed Mujahadeen actually had nothing to do with the Al-Qaeda affiliated Taliban!" coming from the same school of CIA-Twitter posting that gave us "You don't think Amazon workers really pee in bottles, do you?"

This NYT article from 1988 seems to indicate that it was never dedicated to the mujahideen specifically.

''Rambo III'' is dedicated ''to the gallant people of Afghanistan,'' and it clearly intends that its politics be taken seriously.

Of course, it's always possible this article was edited, but it seems like a strange thing to lie about considering how relatively easy it should be to verify.

It also gave Solid Snake the ability to destroy the dreaded Hind D helicopter as well as Metal Gear Rex deployed by Next Generation Special Forces commanded by rogue Foxhound agents to enforce their control all over Shadow Moses Island.

I didn't wanna seem like a nerd and point out they're different dudes. Hell in this case not even related.

There's something for not being the "Actually there's about twelve dudes all named Snake with varying relationships with one another" to someone who maybe didn't play the games and is just trying to have a good time.

Folks, don't we love our ethnic nationalism? Economic democracy is very nasty. Many people are saying it!

CIA giving weapons to militants in other countries, but Americans (unless they are very rich) cannot buy full-auto guns.

Whoever posted this knew this would happen. malicious compliance. At least that's what I want to think.
