Hello users of Hexbear!
Some of you may have noticed some new communities created, and one ... deleted.
I now come to you asking if anyone motivated enough would care to submit an application to become a moderator. You may do so through hexbear DM or through matrix DM (instructions at the end of the post)
We are specifically looking for new moderators in these communities (dunk tank, askchapo, memes, chat, politics, electoralism, doomer, covid, fashion, europe, travel, islam) but accepting applications for any community that you are interested in.
Also, if you would like to create a community please comment what the community is in this post or make a post in https://hexbear.net/c/commrequest
You may also use this post to comment any comments, questions, concerns, criticisms, or compliments related to hexbear, its moderation, or the community.
Thank you everyone for another year of great posting!!!

Element information
Element is a messaging app that lets you talk to people over the Matrix protocol.
To get started, check out this link, where you can choose to either download Element for your platform or, if on a computer, open it in a browser ("Launch Element Web").
The instructions that follow are for the desktop application and the web application, but the process is similar on all apps:
- Press "Create Account"
- We host our own Matrix server, so if you want you can change
matrix.org
tochapo.chat
. This is completely optional; users who sign up with amatrix.org
username can still talk to people withchapo.chat
username. (Note: It ischapo.chat
, nothexbear.net
. Also, registrations aren't always open onchapo.chat
; if they're not, just create an account onmatrix.org
) - Fill in a username and password
- Hit register, and you're done!
I agree with everything you've said except name it c/fake_news so as to be even more confusing
I have never moderated anything in my life, but i excess often
banger post from start to finish
I would also like this. The trueanon sub's days are numbered and I'd just rather be able to get all that information here.
Yeah outside of a couple small subs the trueanon sub is the only reason I go on anymore.
It would also be cool to have a similar minded community that doesn't have every second user spamming the r word and other edgy shit
That's another good point, maybe I never noticed it before but after reopening the sub's overall quality has felt much worse.
dont make me a mod, even fake internet responsibilities sound like way too much work for me. i reject any assertion that i should moderate anything. i will continue to eat candy and play video games in peace
Thank you mods for combatting liberalism on Main and keeping it free from non-mainposting
I want to be asked but then politely decline! Oh dear! Oh no, I'm flattered, but I'm afraid i must pass
Make me mod and I'll send the link bot to the shadow realm then cease all mod activity
Also if anyone wants to mod c/traa lmk, always looking for more people to keep things together
sure go ahead and reply to one of the megathreads on c/traa and link it here
ill dm you in a bit once i add you
Applying for mod on the doomer and fashion comms purely for goth aesthetics.
@CARCOSA@hexbear.net when you are eating food or getting a needle or doing sex or using a qtip or putting in contacts or anything else that involves inserting something into yourself do you ever say "you're in carcosa now"?
When you are about to do number 1 do you say "urine, Carcosa, now!" as well?
i’d like to put forth myself as a candidate. i am longtime user who is terrible at posting, and who has never wavered in her dedication to making this community worse. if granted moderator powers, i would immediately use them to abuse my fellow users and DM minors sketchy stuff. furthermore, i’ll hurt myself if you don’t make me a mod.
thank you for your consideration.
I hereby declare an official request for a trueanon community on Hexbear. There’s one on lemmygrad already but it has three subscribers and I became #2 and #3 after I figured out how to join a new instance.
I know chapo essentially serves the same purpose, but a TA comm could be used to gather the alarmingly more regular headlines about new “Jeffery Epstein(s) of ____” and our Pepe Silvia-style effort posts.
Plus I locked down the username and need to grow the investment
Marx: “I don’t want to belong to any club that would accept me as one of its members.”
I would only consider becoming a mod if the mod team is understaffed, and there is a high demand for mods. I do think it would be cool if we had more POC on the mod team, speaking as a black guy from Europe
I don't think they'd be asking like this if they weren't a bit understaffed, at least on certain comms. If you're online at all frequently anyhow, why not mod a comm or two? Mainly you just have to respond to reports afaik, so it'll show up in your inbox and you just remove the comment, ban, leave it in place, depending on if it's actually against the rules, and then clear the report as resolved
Make me a mod of badposting so I can start removing posts that are actually good.
Phone: incoming call for moderators Me: decline and block number
Fr though, only if the expectations are super low for my level of participation. I will never be on call or keep regular hours.
@CARCOSA@hexbear.net just to clarify, there isn't a requirement to be on call or cover certain hours/shifts right?
Afaik there's no hard requirement, if you're on the site regularly (like, most days, or even close to it, not all hours of the day) you are probably fine, people's reports show up as notifications same as replies/DMs
Alright, I'll apply. Extra people to keep the whiny libs out. Chuds can stay though, as pets.
I'll be the Canada comm tyrant. I'm not gonna submit an application, though. That would be engaging with bourgeois electoralism or something.
