Technology is potential, it isnt skewed towards ideologies (excepts in regards to anprims or stuff like that). So yes, under capitalism, its potential is used to make capitalism even worse, but it can also be potential used towards a future worth living.

The thing is, there's a lot I like to do that I can't do because of the pandemic. Couple that with the blisteringly hot weather for the second tier of things I like to do and it makes it super difficult to spend a lot of time away from the screen.

If you're having trouble, just do shit to make the experience boring and plain. Use a plain background. Find a black and white filter. Use those dumb tools that only allow you to use an app or site for a specified time before locking.
