Skylar White, I wish she would just let her family be destroyed so that I could live out my deranged power fantasy through Walt

Skylar hate is so nuts. Her husband was becoming a goddamn violent drug lord. Even when I was watching that show as a shitty lib I didn’t understand the hate

In these discussions I don't see nearly enough people commenting about the fact that Walter raped Skyler like what, 10 episodes into the series?

So for me it was that she always derailed the cool/crazy shot that was already going on, without being able to match it in the interesting department. She was like the team rocket of breaking bad (Pokémon season 1 had cool premises that always got dropped for dumb steal pikachu plots)

I understand the hate for her. The show deliberately makes you hate her. Shes annoying! She fucks Ted! She’s just a fucking bitch all the time!

But then as the show goes on, you realize that being “a bitch” is completely incomparable to the sort of monstrous crimes Walt is committing. Its a sort of commentary on the difference between s bad person and someone that just isn't likable.

But people on the internet kind of glazed over that and just jumped at the opportunity to hate a woman.

Speaking of billionaire tv characters, I kinda wanna talk about how much of a POS Scrooge McDuck is. According to some obscure website, he owns 333 trillion in gold coins alone. Have you ever seen the house the beagle boys live in? It’s a fucking slum. Scrooge McDuck deserves to be robbed.

He could literally buy them off and he'd make it back in interest during the time handing it over.

Ted Lasso just made a billionaire character someone that turns into a vindictive whiny baby when they don't get their way.

      :conflicted:

My vote is for that Western chauvinist caricature of an Afghan guy or maybe the gusanos on a similar sitcom.

There are a bunch of characters like this, they're all the same: bad faith human rights narratives personified.

Lisa Simpson. As the Simpsons got worse Lisa has come to epitomise the smug liberalism of its writers. She's like every democrat Twitter account coalesced into a single character.

Edit: I've thought about it for a bit and have realised there's someone I hate more than Lisa Simpson. The POV character of Scrubs, (I forget his name, JD I think?) a man so pathologically incapable of seeing women as anything other than sex objects that his monologue swerves frequently into incel shit.

I don't watch the simpsons, so I only know her character from a few episodes, but her critique about the police seems pretty left of lib...

Tbf though liberals don't mind throwing out a Left critique here and there to feel cool, as long as nobody tries to effectively act to resolve it.

Oh my god Scrubs got bad really quick. Like every single character only had a single trait. Distant second to “How I met your mother” for 2000s toxic masculinity though.

I haven't seen "How I met your mother" if I had, I have no doubt that my mind would have went there instead of Scrubs.

Edit: googled it. What the fuck is this shit? Why does it exist?

I don't remember her name but there's a terrible character in S1 of the Walking Dead that is obnoxious every time she's onscreen.

Other contenders include Beckett Mariner from Star Trek: Lower Decks. There's some good aspects to her character but she constantly does terrible things to Brad Boimler and other characters and just simply gets away with all of it. The Mariner-Boimler dynamic reminds me a lot of the Rick-Morty dynamic, in that they are both dynamics in which a wacky character abuses the "pain piggy" of the show. To be honest Rick is a lot worse, so even though I've seen much less of the show, Rick might take my pick for worst character.
