When I was in high school it was the kids who didn’t have phones. And then it was the kids who didn’t have a camera. And then it was the kids who didn’t have a full keyboard. And then it was the kids who didn’t have unlimited texting. And then it was the kids who didn’t have data. And then started the brand wars. I promise, as someone who’s been on every side of this, the friends make the difference, not the phone. People will always find stuff to be shitty about if they so desire

Yeah tbh I literally cannot fathom. I cannot imagine giving a fuck what phone someone has and i cant imagine giving a fuck about other peoples opinions on my phone lol.

The only time a phone has ever come up in our friend group was my buddy complaining that at&t shut off his huawei and replaced it with a much worse phone lol

I have an iPhone because the SE is the cheapest phone right now that's also halfway decent for privacy, security, and not getting ruined by a few drops of rain. I was an android person for a long time, but I switched over a couple years ago and it's really grown on me.

(But to echo other commenters, peer pressure is dumb and not a reason to switch. Use signal.)

I thought you were being overly sensitive until I read that your friends are discluding you from chat because green. What pricks. People are sticky in terms of switching platforms, so I get that, but if you’re not gonna switch, then just use regular SMS instead of being assholes to your friend. You should 100% not have to buy a different phone just to talk to one of your core support systems

It's not usually explicit but it definitely is a thing

I have heard about the green bubble thing before, but it's gotta be a hoax, like there is no way in hell an actual person in the real world would actually care or even notice right? Unless I am missing something, this is about the color of the blobs around the SMS texts being green instead of blue, right?

Not directly, it's more just indicative of a lack of the nice features you get with iMessage chats.

Apple "dumbs down" the group chat features unless all the participants have iMessage
