You can't begin to understand North Korea until you reckon with what the US did during that war, which has officially never ended.
uncritical support for the DPRK in its heroic struggle to liberate occupied Korea from the genocidal American empire
It's weird now, I work with a South Korean dude who moved here very recently and the Indian and Phillipino guys who work their who's politics I can't suss out at all but I gotta guess chud leaning as well constantly make jokes about him secretly being a DPRK spy and while dealing with that I made fun of the leather jacket thing which was the propaganda of the day and it seems the general eastern Capitalist country belief is that everything America says about the DPRK is a lie but the different less insane lies they've heard are true and I'm over here and white so I don't know how evil they are. Talking to people who support capitalism despite being from exploited countries is hard. I at least know the dude from India has a super fucking rich family and is a major hustle dickneho wants to go into home flipping but my not wanting white people to bomb North Korea makes me seen as an ignorant white dude and they feel they need to explain to me with the tone you'd tell a toddler that they'll shoot you immediately for having any independent thought and it's my Westen ignorance that led to my sympathy for the DPRK
Great topic choice. I'm really interested in learning more about this. It's been hand-waved in every history class I've ever taken. What little I've heard about it lately seems like the US did some ultra ghoulish shit so I'm looking forward to learning more.
Some of The USA’s worst crimes were committed during this conflict.
There's a reason why it's referred to as "The Forgotten War"
I can't wait. Learning about different perspectives on the Korean war from the chapo subreddit really solidified my staunch anti-imperialism. This is just gonna give me more ammunition.
Nice! I still have to listen to season 2. The korean war episode of rev left radio was good.
Good topic choice by the podcast.
Also that hype video was extremely well done! Sick editing. Genuinely.
Excellent choice. The more I learn about the Korean War the more I realize how it maybe was just as war criminally as the Vietnam War.
And I'd be happy to give Brendan and Noah money for this, but I'm not signing up for Stitcher or whatever. Annoying I can't just send them money or something.
Your comment just made me realize that I never cancelled my Stitcher premium account for signing up last year for Season 2, lmao. Fuck.
It was also a catalyst for MK Ultra, when soldiers were held captive and started talking about US Army use of chemical and biological weapons, the CIA freaked out and to cover it up they made up a story that communists have mind control powers. And to combat it you have to have your own. So they tortured some folks and gave them LSD.
I literally didn't know when the Korean War took place until I looked it up on Wikipedia in college because I was embarrassed. They taught us absolutely nothing about it in my high school.
It will be neat and heartbreaking to hear them go over the chemical warfare evidence
Blowback the anti-imperialist podcast. You love to see it.
