I've thinking about how evil America is and how racist and homophobic the whole country is. But when I think about how to escape it I can't figure out anywhere that is genuinely any better. All the imperialist succ dem countries that get hyped have been getting exposed as being just as racist as America. Meanwhile I've heard horror stories about the potential destinations I've thought of in the global south. Has me feeling really :doomer:

Heck Raul and Vilma's daughter has been the leader of the LGBTQ rights movement there for decades

Also Diaz-Canal (Cuba's President) was pushing LGBT rights all the way back in the 90s, when it was less popular to do so.

You can go to "support the Cuban people" on a Cuban visa even if you can't do it for tourism, can't you? I don't know how it works for Americans. Pretty sure you can buy a plane ticket from Miami to Havanna pretty much whenever.

The more cosmopolitan areas of Vietnam probably have the best ratio. You'll never get citizenship tho

As long as the US is global hegemon you can't really escape it. Not to say you shouldn't get out though. Would you be comfortable learning a new language and adapting to a new culture/lifestyle?

If you are, then most countries in SEA or East Asia are probably safer to be a minority in than the US. All of them are less evil than the US.

Asia is literally the worst place in the world to be if you are black :deeper-sadness:

While living in Asia I met black people who liked it there. The racism is probably just as bad but there isn’t the threat of violence behind it.

Does anyone know if Uruguay or Costa Rica is any good?

Both have excellent track records for LGBT rights, and Uruguay boasts full legal equality for LGBT people.

But if you must, by all means save your money and realize there's no shame in staying. Hell, I would argue for you to start organizing locally or possibly find areas of left-wing enclaves. I know some of this is leftover talk from my :lib: days, but your local elections are going to affect your life much more than a supreme court case. Fidel Castro built local dual power and then expanded, so did the black panthers. Even the hogs are getting in on this.

What region of the USA are you in? The country sucks but it's also fucking huge, some areas are less cringe than others

In my own life I've heard people say that California vs the rest of the country is VERY different in viewpoints/overall attitudes towards marginalized groups
