I’m saving this to share with my father, who is on Jordan Peterson’s all meat diet. Maybe it can only be interpreted by someone with the enlightenment gained from hepatic encephalopathy due to self-inflicted liver disease.

Yeah, maybe I would have wanted that when I was an 8 year old boy who loved burgers, but damn 8-year-old me would have missed pasta real soon.

            burgers

Are you prepared to throw away all the buns on those burgers? To eat them without ketchup and mustard?

The "Patriachal World" of Light and The "Matriarchal World" of Darkness might be the stupidest pile of dogshit that's ever been written and yet he somehow managed to get tenured at the University of Toronto which is somehow ranked 16th best university in the world. They should fire the whole psych department for allowing this to happen.

one day i was extremely bored and i downloaded a copy of his book maps of meaning which this is from (which i think is his only proper 'academic' book as a professor), and oh boy is it ever full of batshit diagrams like this

i didnt read it because obviously, but its some thing about applying some jungian analysis to various creation myths or something like that. which explains the paradise garden and yahweh bit but not exactly the...rather large leap to "women are the chaos dragon in the matriarchal world of darkness"

also while we're doing old jordan peterson i will never stop reposting this video because omg this will also never not be funny as hell (cw: misogyny)

I've read a decent amount of his stuff, it's all based on vibes. X thing has y vibes. Y thing has z vibes, so even while x doesn't have z vibes, they are connected by vibe chain. So, if you compare this list of things that share vibes with z and things that share vibes with x, see the connection? (There is no connection) Thats why it's a common story trope for things with x vibes to interact with things in this way. And the reason why it's a story trope is because it's true. Things with these vibes always do this, you can see it.

And there is never an end or point to any of it. The only material things are very generic generally good advice like organize things that you don't understand and it will be easier for you to understand. Cut up problems into smaller pieces of you can't handle everything at once. That kind of stuff.

Scientology probably has some nuggets of wisdom within the alienating hypercapitalist hellscape of its doctrines, too.

Since Jung was mentioned I want to point out that he was a quack and a sex creep. I think Freud disowned him because he wouldn't stop fucking his "patients". And all his "Theories" are just complete nonsense with no basis in reality.

Of all the dumb shit in this stupid diagram, the one that bothers me the most is somehow the fact that the circle around the void has an arrow head but the circle around Yahweh doesn't for some reason and it makes me :cringe: every time I see it

How did Jordan Peterson get so popular again? Just for being a conservative and having popular internet opinions?

I'm guessing that to normies he's an "intellectual that's one of us!" like a Noam Chomsky or Judith Butler for hogs. But why him? There's plenty of economics and business professors that agree with Jordan Peterson on many things.

Sure, him being an intellectual telling people what they want to hear will get you noticed, but to the extent where he's on par with Keanu Reeves and Elon Musk for redditors to circlejerk about?

I remember it like: initial thing he got famous for was misunderstanding a Canadian bill dealing with discrimination. One of his students had transitioned part way through the class and Peterson continued to deadname her and use the wrong pronouns. Student filed with the school for harassment. Peterson refused to use the student's preferred pronouns, saying that any attempt to coerce him into doing so was evil Marxist commie tyranny. Chuds had a field day with him, comparing him to Rosa Parks.

        He didn't misunderstand

He purposefully misrepresented the bill so he could complain about nothing

        He's a grifter

A part of it is that psychology is seen as a kind of left wing science by a lot of chuds. A lot of findings of psychology go against their preconceived notions of how you should treat other people, and yourself. Don't beat kids. Don't make fun of fat people to make them healthier. Trans people are helped more by transitioning than by trying to squash their transness out of them. Believing wholeheartedly in western masculinity is harmful to men. Etc

JBP is "their guy" in that space. This is necessary because a lot of them believe in the aesthetics of science. While psychology has a lot of problems as a science, a lot of its conclusions are based on data. Thus they need a psych daddy to tell them that no, the science is on their side.

Anyway, I think that's part of it.

Another is he was outspoken as an academic (which again, is seen as "left wing") when the pronouns thing was the flavour of the day

That might be the linchpin. Furthermore, this is why I refuse to take any outcry on "cancel culture" seriously. Being canceled was a net positive for the internet's favorite people. The only person I could think of that got successfully canceled was....Bill Nye. For not screeching that God hates the gay people and the trans people. No one could really handle that.
