"I come here in a spirit of friendship to explain the mechanisms of our sanctions, the importance of joining us to express shared resolve and to advance shared interests. And yes, there are consequences to countries that actively attempt to circumvent or backfill these sanctions," he said, also noting that India and Russia are looking to get around the sanctions using their own payment system.

"We are very keen for all countries, especially our allies and partners, not to create mechanisms that prop up the ruble and that attempt to undermine the dollar-based financial system," he said.

I come here humbly requesting you to remain poor by spending 3x the bargain price Russia is offering you for oil in the name of peace and wanting to be part of the cool western kids.

      "undermine the dollar-based financial system”

Ah yes, the singular financial system we have worldwide where everyone uses the US dollar because the USA is in charge of everything :what-the-hell:

What a bunch of fucking ghouls

yeah, that stood out to me to. the US really does think it's in charge of the world. and most Americans do too.

IIRC they weren't cold war "partners", but the USSR sent tons of aid to India and they've always been grateful to the USSR and by extension Russia for that. There are dudes in India named "Stalin". Do nice stuff for people and they will do nice stuff for you, who knew that actually good foreign policy was that simple?

I mean, it's beneficial and plain common sense for a socialist country to help out another socialist country in a world dominated by capital. Of course, it doesn't have to be mutually exclusive. It serves that role and accomplishes the selflessness inherent in Communism.

I mean Ukraine is just a proxy battleground for the US/NATO to try to tear Russia apart so they can gorge on the remains. Any state on Russia's border would do, it just happens that Ukraine is the nation-state that is geographically relevant.

If you look closely enough at neoliberals and especially the neoliberal ruling class, they haven't stopped chasing the dragon that was that moment of feeling invincible and omnipotent that they felt just after the USSR collapsed and Silicon Valley started being subsidized into existence.

To them, the world is forever the American Empire, the ruins of the dead USSR and all the charming and quirky antics those ex-commies get up to, a weird and scary and sneaky China, some angry brown people in the desert that hate freedom, and mud huts and gullible mud hut dwellers positioned directly above caches of resources.
