Based essay, ime professors usually care way more about how engaged you are in the subject than about :zizek:, and you get to practice your research skills in the ways you care about.

my experience as well, i've just never had a prof so openly anti-communist before like even my previous prof (who kissed a jpg of adam smith) at least entertained me with it god damn.

equating post-communist and post-colonial state of affairs (in a communism bad sense) out the gate does a fucking number on my confidence to write based shit to submit tbh, necessary credit too

what if you write more of a "capitalism bad" essay than a "communism good" essay?

Do (West) Germany, since their political culture is pretending they ever actually did denazification.

Depends. If you've got a good teacher who appreciates someone earnestly engaging with the material, and you can put down a good essay, just go for that. If you feel you might risk your grades, well you know what to do. Then again, writing something in bad faith could make for a worse essay if it means you don't connect to it.

If you haven't already gotten started, I'd say if it's an essay that you don't see having any practical use in the future, go the easy cringe way out. I've done it in my college days. Just phone it in and save your energy for communism.

If it is something you could see yourself using in the future and it won't hurt your grade, I'd say do the based essay. It's one thing I wish I did more of - making essays or articles I could publish in the future using drafts of essays.

Why do the work twice if you can make an article draft and pass the class at the same time?

I guess do what is best for your future, and if it will make you feel better, and you have the time, do an honest one for us as a means of venting
