So immediately as soon as I saw this post, I received a notification from my news app saying that the photo of the “cross dresser” is actually just an irrelevant trans woman. https://apple.news/AOmiM1dMmR4e6gW_uhzOuVA

Rep. Paul Gosar, an Arizona Republican, said of the shooter in a since-deleted tweet, “It’s a transsexual leftist illegal alien named Salvatore Ramos.”

Illegal alien who had legal access to one of the most expensive brands of AR15s :very-smart:

Wasn’t there a huge moral panic about serial killers being trans back in the day? IIRC, there were like maybe 2 serial killers who identified as a woman while the others simply had fetishes about women’s clothing but ultimately identified as men.

Anyway, very cool that 4chan continues to influence politics. If Democrats actually cared about “democracy,” or at least maintaining the illusion of it, they’d shut down 4chan and pressure the Japanese to imprison the owner or something extreme like that. But no, they’re fucking losers who can’t think of anything beyond a paycheck.

I used to be 100% on the “video games don’t cause violence” train, and I still mostly am. But now my opinions are more nuanced. They definitely influence their consumers. Maybe not to kill, but to think in certain ways that perhaps make them apathetic to certain issues.

They might shut down 4chan soon because /chug/ is winning the civil war against /uhg/

Please put me down for knowing this. I like to observe these cretins in their natural habitat.

The anti-west, anti-NATO reactionaries and nationalists seem to slowly be taking over against the pro-NATO, pro-Ukraine, pro-Azov Nazis and western chauvinists who initially dominated discussions. Russia might actually be doing psy-ops there, the west certainly is despite losing their grip.

Basically the Putinists and non-western rightoids are taking over and supporting Putin’s war might be the final line they cross to get banned. CP, Nazism, many many crimes - all can be forgiven by the west. But I don’t know if the west will tolerate epic based Putinism on a major heavily trafficked website

Comfy Happenings Ukraine General vs. Ukraine Happenings General.

There was one megathread originally about the “happening” (event) in Ukraine. It devolved into flaming and infighting and broke into 2 competing megathreads that raided each other constantly, chug and ugh. They are on threads ~3500 and ~2000 respectively. Threads hit a maximum size limit and you have to make a new thread.

Chug felt the war was “comfy” and “kino” and supported based Putin in his quest against “globohomo” (basically another snarl term for the neoliberal world order, the globalists, the purveyors of social justice, etc).

Ugh hates evil asiatic Putin and his Muslim hordes. They believe in white western supremacy. They support Azov and NATO and want Europe to be supreme but also more rightwing and reactionary.

Those are you 2 flavors of evil weirdo, and the chugs are clearly winning and becoming more and more prominent in other threads. Rampant homophobia, antisemitism, etc on both sides obviously.

Y'know what, why do we curse ourselves with all this hyperonline shit.

I should really log off to read some more theory, and only log in again after reading a few books. It would be a much more productive use of my time. But I lack the self discipline lol.

Wasn’t there a huge moral panic about serial killers being trans back in the day?

Specifically male mentally ill cross dressers. They would not have differentiated between that and being trans at that point in time, but I will absolutely make the distinction now. As far as I can tell, the trope is all based on a single killer who neither fit the typical profile of a serial killer nor seemed to crossdress for gender identity reasons. Hard to say posthumously, but the evidence that he was trans is flimsy at best. His name was Ed Gein.

      CW murder, gore

He “only” murdered 3 people, which is a lot, but not a lot compared to most serial killers and not a lot compared to the number of bodies he dug up and used for taxidermy and sewing materials. When they caught him, his apartment was in squalor, aside from his mother’s bedroom, which hadn’t been disturbed since she died.

The narratives that were built around him really gained legs in movies, though, and the cross dressing aspect was played up. Buffalo Bill, Leatherface, and Norman Bates were some of the most infamous fictional characters based off of him. These characters played up the cross dressing as sexual deviancy. And that let them integrate fears from other serial killers who happened to be queer in some way. They could kind of throw it all into one basket and act like it was causal and typical. Jeffrey Dahner and John Wayne Gacey come to mind.

John Wayne Gacey in particular called himself bisexual. He was married to a woman with children and stated that he’d never had romantic feelings for men. His victims were exclusively men/boys under the age of 25, many of which were gay and had run away from home. I’ve seen arguments that that pattern was more based around these boys being from a vulnerable population, which is a reasonable thing to point out.

So yeah the moral panic was constructed whole cloth by movies who understood neither queerness nor serial killers and continues to this day with books like JK Rowling’s adult mystery series.

So the clear political strategy of the right if not both heads of the American hegemony is to blame all of America's problems on transpeople. Baby formula shortage? Transpeople. Pedophilic elites? Transpeople. School shootings? Transpeople.

Transpeople aren't the problem. Capitalism is.

They're singling out a marginalized outsider group, what Anthropology would term the Other, and using that group as a scapegoat for societal problems. It's exactly what Nazis and their ilk did with Jews, play by play. They pick a group that has no political protectors, that is unpopular in society, that has no coherent structure capable of self defense. They pick someone who is isolated and can't fight back. Then they tell the hogs "This is your enemy! Look what they've done!" and unleash them.

The fascist foot soldiers now have a target to blame for all the difficulties in their life and permission from the leaders to unleash their rage and frustration on that target. Then we get pogroms.

And once the fascists have killed all the members of one victim group they pivot effortlessly, pick a new group, and say "This is your enemy! Look what they've done!" and repeat the process.

They used a drone loaded with C4 to kill the Dallas shooter. That's one of the things that stood out to me. The first time I'm aware of that a drone strike was ordered against a US citizen on US soil.

That's not a "drone strike". Those quadcopter things have definitely been used before in the US.

that is very literally a strike with an armed drone, and no, drones armed with explosives had not previously been used to kill people in the US. I will allow the possibility that there may have been uses of gun equipped drones that I am not familiar with, but I would need to see evidence of the use of a drone armed with explosives.

My take is extreme social alienation and extreme depoliticization in an individual who is a fucking asshole. They don't have any class consciousness and don't view themselves as part of an oppressed class. Or, if they do, it's something like 4chan or incel culture that's extremely individualist and extremely negative-nihilistic. Some may consider themselves part of an oppressed white, christian class, but that's generally not the ones who shoot up schools.

So you've got these individuals. They don't see themselves as anything but an individual, alone in the universe. Their outlook on the world is extreme hopelessness and negative-nihilism. Black-pill doomer brain.

They recognize that there is a society which they feel excluded from, and they resent that society for excluding them.

They don't recognize any political or class structures - They don't have any understanding of who actually oppresses them and why they are oppressed.

So when they finally decide to attack society in retribution for their perceived exclusion and oppression, instead of targeting cops or CEOs or politicians, they choose a target that they think will inflict maximum harm and terror on society; They go after kids.

If you think society has done you wrong and you're so blackpilled and alienated from humanity that all you want to do is cause the maximum amount of harm possible, the easiest target is a school full of children. You don't need a complex and difficult to assemble bomb, you don't need access to any controlled spaces, you don't need to fight the cops. Schools are soft targets that are effectively impossible to defend.

I would imagine that the same general logic applies to people who used to shoot up malls - It's a soft target and a symbol of the society they think has scorned them. Workplace shooters are similar, but they've got some conception that wage labor is what dehumanizes and oppresses them.

And of course for any of this to happen you need to start with someone who is a complete asshole, who when faced with a situation where they are motivated to end their life decides that they want to hurt other people on the way out.

I prefer this explanation because it assumes a reasonably rational actor making rational decisions. Their actions are the result of ignorance and a personal failure of morality. It's not the actions of a mentally ill person suffering from delusions (though those do happen). It's not "impossible to explain". You can go through every step and understand what kind of thinking would lead someone to this conclusion.

Because it has an explanation it has a solution. These things aren't impossible to stop; This kind of shit doesn't happen in countries that don't have a strong culture around using firearms to redress personal grievances, and they generally don't happen in countries that have strong social integration. They don't happen in countries where the political system offers a realistic chance of redressing the grievances of the population.

non-politically motivated, non-religiously motivated Spree killings in America happen when people who are cruel enough to take revenge for perceived slights reach a state of such black-pilled nihilistic hopelessness that they decide to take revenge in such a way to cause maximal harm. People who don't have the capacity for that kind of cruelty just commit suicide, or commit suicide by cop. People who do have that capacity for cruelty in other countries 1.) don't have access to firearms 2.) don't have access to black-pill culture 3.) aren't oppressed to such extremes that they identify the whole of society as their enemy.

Either way, that's my take. I'm not an academic expert, just an amateur observer.

In an ideal world frats would be forcefully disbanded and their members placed under political surveillance. But Frats are a tool for initiating young members of the bourgeoisie in their class. Partially this is done by inducting them in to the social networks that will confer them political and economic access later in life. Partially this is done by making them culpable in sanctioned illegal and immoral activity so that they carry some degree of guilt with their co-conspirators.

Not all frats are like that, some are just professional associations or basically well dressed communal living groups, but enough of them are vehicles for reproducing class and class violence that they can be safely got rid of.
