As far as I know you can get permanent residence in Spain if you have a monthly income of $2,000, also there are a lot of Latin American countries or Asian countries where that number is more like $1,000. Lots of retired folks make moves to these countries where a social security or pension check goes farther than in US.
For Spain's retirement visa, the one you're mentioning (Non-Lucrative Visa), the income can't come from employment. It has to be passive income.
Ah that’s good to know. I looked into itbecause I’ve got a permanent disability check which could qualify me for a lot of these types of programs that various countries have.
Not sure if you've looked into this but a lot of countries require you to declare any disabilities or illnesses you might have and will deny you on that basis.
