I actually do because I find it hilarious. This "democracy" is actually so brittle they genuinely could have pulled off this plan with the slightest amount of actual will, and everyone would have 100% folded if they had

They're going to succeed their next try and no one is going to care. That's the saddest fucking thing.

Right? Those rioters at the capital had their sworn enemies within spitting distance and they didn't do anything except get some of their own killed. They rummaged through some offices, moved around a podium. No one lit a fire or made coherent demands. Did any of them even find any juicy state secrets? Secret rooms in the congressional offices or something? And they did all that fuss to...somehow reverse the events of the election, which didn't happen anyway.

They could have occupied the capital building and forced the cops or national guard to tear gas the house chamber. They could have actually halted the wheels of federal government if they wished, or forced the state to shoot them all. They could have taken a shit in the senate candy desk. Absolutely poor show all around and the only meaningful thing to happen was it was pretty funny. The funniest part for me was when it was happening, all my chud coworkers were in favor of it, then I reminded them they were entirely against the 2020 riots, and also entirely against the 2016 demonstrations against Trump, because their claim was "republicans don't riot." All they could say was "Well that was different." lmao ok

No I mean seriously the big takeaway from these hearings so far is that the Republicans could have 100% stolen the election if like a mike pence staffer had agreed to accept a bullshit list of electors or w/e and mike pence had played ball

I'm not kidding, this literally came down to people consciously choosing not to muddy electoral college waters and the ceremonial official in charge of certification saying No. There's all kinds of bullshit in between but after this trial run the Republicans from top to bottom know which positions to target and who to purge

I mean yea most of the crowd was just gen X pool supply dipshits but those people were cover for actual nazis and shit that were trying to kill congress and the vice president

I'm not saying it wasn't funny, it was fucking funny

if they had been like 10% more organized they could've killed a buuunch of people and that would've been way more interesting.

Watching the entire establishment shrug and fail to act on Roe has been a real revelation about what we're dealing with.

doesn't that mean a leftist group could also hypothetically succeed the same way? or are we saying they only got that far because they had the support of the sitting president, congress, etc?

Lol no, they’d never let actual leftist make a push like this - look at how that ends with reactionaries going abroad and funding fascist militias and white armies.

This was the beer putsch to 2024’s Reichstag Fire.

For me the only notable thing about Jan 6th was how much it showed that chuds have 0 actual ideology. Imagine your political allies storming and overtaking your nation's seat of power only to sort of like...mill around and take some selifes and then go home. They had nothing to do once they got there because they don't have any real complaints or actionable ideas.

at best it just shows that :amerikkka: will remain a fascist/rightest playground for the near future and they will generally be treated as misbehaving children at worst.

Multiple libs have talked about it with me like I’m supposed to care. I repeatedly tell them that it was probably the funniest thing that has ever happened.

Didn't most people think the capitol building riots were just kind of funny? There were people in silly costumes taking selfish in Pelosi's office. It's like a John Candy film

Remember that cop brutality video where a cop ninja rolls and tackles a little black girl? Everyone was in an uproar, but the guy was ridiculous. I think the same kind of enjoyment and jouissance was at work with Jan 6th riots and libs.

What's the issue with Jan 6th? Nothing more american than trying to overthrow a democratic government.

the one thing that seemed the most "serious" about the whole business to an outsider was that there were apparently bombs planted at dnc and rnc headquarters at the same time, werent there? and yet absolutely nobody talks about those as far as i can tell, its all about via getty trying to steal a lectern how dare you sir

what the hell ended up being the deal with those bombs?

My mom saw her mom and other extended family recently and they wouldn’t stop talking about Jan 6 and acting like the hearings were the most important thing happening, and my mom was like “Why on earth would anyone care about this? They’re not going to do anything!”

Love her, the last two years have turned her from a Hillary Clinton loving lib to “Hang these motherfuckers in the street”

I thought that the mueller report would wake her up a bit, she was quite depressed for a few weeks after it came out, but alas libs gonna lib. I think she just likes to obsess about trump entirely for the drama factor. We're not even american lol.

Honestly, if they had succeeded maybe we could have stopped pretending this country is fucking worth anything and we’d just stop paying bills and shit. But the fact they failed and folded so easily and there’s been almost zero repercussions means they are gonna go harder next time.
