In the Soviet Union there was a massive queue to see Lenin's body after he died. In fact the reason his body ended up the way it did was an accident - people just kept coming and the committee in charge of his funeral decided it would be better to establish the mausoleum than to start turning people away.
Anyway I'm hoping that's what ends up happening to Elizabeth, because it would be very funny.

My English co-worker showed me this queue with pride today and was explaining to me, how the Queen is just a cool referee and has no powers whatsoever. I told her I don't believe that, and sent her the Guardian article showing how the Royals have manipulated various laws, through a very opaque "vetting" process, so they could financially benefit. She sends me back "YES! She is just a referee!" and quotes the dictionary entry for "vetting" to me...Jesus fucking Christ...

It's understandable for them, might be the last chance they'd be able to see him in person or at all. Meanwhile every person waiting in line has multiple color representations of the queen with them. A magic box that can show them literally hundreds of hours of color footage of the queen, propaganda videos accessible in an instant of the queen, have also likely seen her in person before at some other event.
She has also not done anything for them...if there was one group that Stalin really helped out materially it was the peasants. The establishment of collective farms made him literally the greatest leader in Russian history to the peasant class (which has been self abolished now thanks to that collectivization and industrialization)

This is because the government is forcing people to go to the queens funeral. If you are caught not crying/showing proper emotion, they will arrest you and you will probably end up dead, they might also come after 3 generations of your family freedom activists say.
