I don't even want to dunk on these people. I just want them to step back for a second and think about the implications of what they are saying.

It's like, if you think rich people deserve to be above the law then fine, fair enough, we'll just stop talking because the only language you'll understand is a brick through your car window. But if you're a normal person, that's a concept that you'll at least disagree with in theory. And if you can logically understand that this is wrong, you should be able to recognize that this outrage you're feeling is maybe a little bit manufactured. Right???

I wish there was way to tell people "your lifestyle has been almost entirely subsidized by murder and exploitation of the global underclass," but like, in a fun way.

The presumption being every country is like the United States where the powerful are far far far more resistant to the consequences of their actions. Therefore it must be hellish for the average Chinese citizen if billionaires go to jail for their crimes. Very chauvinistic.

In communist China, former officials carry out unsuccessful coups with zealous supporters, then peacefully retire at their golf resort home and keep state secrets about nuclear weapons inside their personal safe.

I doubt Trump was keeping state secrets about nuclear weapons probably it was secrets about something way dumber.

I just don't think he cares about nuclear weapons because they don't affect him directly

The FBI cracked the safe, opened the manila folder marked “Top Secret” and inside there was only a photo of Macron, not cheating on his wife. This is a scandal that would have rocked the French political system.

What do you mean trump doesn’t care about nuclear? It’s close to his heart:

Look, having nuclear — my uncle was a great professor and scientist and engineer, Dr. John Trump at MIT; good genes, very good genes, OK, very smart, the Wharton School of Finance, very good, very smart — you know, if you’re a conservative Republican, if I were a liberal, if, like, OK, if I ran as a liberal Democrat, they would say I’m one of the smartest people anywhere in the world — it’s true! — but when you’re a conservative Republican they try — oh, do they do a number — that’s why I always start off: Went to Wharton, was a good student, went there, went there, did this, built a fortune — you know I have to give my like credentials all the time, because we’re a little disadvantaged — but you look at the nuclear deal, the thing that really bothers me — it would have been so easy, and it’s not as important as these lives are — nuclear is so powerful; my uncle explained that to me many, many years ago, the power and that was 35 years ago; he would explain the power of what’s going to happen and he was right, who would have thought? — but when you look at what’s going on with the four prisoners — now it used to be three, now it’s four — but when it was three and even now, I would have said it’s all in the messenger; fellas, and it is fellas because, you know, they don’t, they haven’t figured that the women are smarter right now than the men, so, you know, it’s gonna take them about another 150 years — but the Persians are great negotiators, the Iranians are great negotiators, so, and they, they just killed, they just killed us, this is horrible.

Literally just a bunch of motherfuckers whining that China doesn't take the concept of Affluenza as a legal defense seriously

If they weren't punished, Liberals would latch on to how "corrupt" of a country China is with no self-awareness whatsoever.

This doesn't look great. Accountability is a worrisome sign for China's future

Oh wow one of many people responsible for prosecuting corruption is being held responsible for later becoming corrupt? Clearly the system is broken

I think it would be a great bit if Chen Weihua just tweeted this verbatim from his account.

No former justice minister is safe. If you are a former Chinese justice minister reading this, get out of China and become a former justice minister in the US instead!

I suppose part of the "American Dream" is to fantasize about being completely immune to consequences, no matter what. :epstein:
